Chileans have one of the longest journeys of any visitors to Dubai, but one of the shortest lists of paperwork. The Dubai visa for Chile citizens is a free stamp at immigration, thanks to a visa exemption agreement with the UAE. The things worth planning are the route, the season and the document you pack.
The trip in four numbers
- 90 days: the longest stay a Chilean passport allows in the UAE.
- Zero pesos: the cost of the entry stamp.
- At least one connection: there is no non-stop flight from Santiago to Dubai.
- Seven or eight hours: how far Dubai's clocks run ahead of continental Chile.
How do Chileans actually get to Dubai?
The most direct routing runs through Brazil:
- Fly Santiago to São Paulo–Guarulhos with LATAM, JetSMART or Sky.
- Board Emirates' daily Airbus A380 to Dubai, which takes about 14 hours 55 minutes.
- Show your Chilean passport at Dubai immigration and receive the free stamp.
Emirates also restored daily flights between Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Dubai in July 2026, which gives Chileans a second routing via Argentina. Dubai is seven hours ahead of continental Chile while Chilean summer time is in force, from September to April, and eight hours ahead for the rest of the year. Magallanes and Aysén stay on UTC−3 all year, so they are always seven hours behind Dubai.

A Chilean passport is all you need
No visa is required. The exemption between Chile and the UAE took effect on 16 December 2017 and covers ordinary passports, allowing a stay of as much as 90 days. Emirates describes the Chilean stamp as good for several entries over six months, so short trips out of the country and back are possible within the 90-day total.
That leaves Dubai visa requirements for Chile short. Nobody on a Chilean passport has to buy an extra Dubai tourist visa from Chile before a holiday. The stamp itself serves as the Dubai visa for Chile passport holders. People travelling with you on other passports may be in a different position. Save the embassy's emergency number
Chile's embassy in Abu Dhabi, in the Al Mushrif area, also covers Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar. Its consular section answers on +971 2 447 2022 and at abudhabi@consulado.gob.cl, Monday to Thursday from 8.30am to 2.30pm and on Friday from 8.30am to noon. For emergencies, Chilean citizens can call +971 50 843 0766. In Chile, the UAE is represented by an embassy in Santiago.
If you're paying in pesos
The Chilean peso floats freely, while the dirham holds steady at 3.6725 against the greenback. How many dirhams your pesos buy therefore changes with the peso–dollar rate. Look the rate up when you actually change money rather than trusting a figure from when you booked, and consider whether carrying US dollars makes the maths easier.
Timing a trip around the Chilean school calendar
The long summer break, from December to late February, is the natural window, and it lines up with Dubai's mildest months. In January, Santiago's average high is about 30°C, which is warmer than Dubai's 24°C. The two-week winter break in July is a different story: Santiago's average high is about 15°C then, while Dubai's passes 41°C.
