Visiting Dubai on a Kazakhstan Passport: Do You Need a Visa?
Kazakh citizens travelling on an ordinary passport do not need to arrange a visa before a Dubai trip of up to 30 days. When you land, the immigration officer stamps a 30-day visit permit into your passport free of charge, as long as the passport is valid for at least six months from the day you enter. That covers most holidays, family visits and short business trips. Planning a longer stay, travelling with someone on a different passport, or already in Dubai and running short of days? Then a 60-day single entry tourist visa or an in-country extension is worth a look, and the sections below show which one fits.
Most questions about a Dubai visa for Kazakhstan citizens come down to how many days you need and who is travelling with you. Get those two things clear and the rest is simple.
Do Kazakh Citizens Need a Visa for Dubai? How the 30-Day Entry Works
The visa-free entry comes from a bilateral agreement between Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates that has been in force for several years. It covers ordinary (civil) passports. Diplomatic and service passports fall under separate arrangements, so holders of those should confirm their own position before booking.
In practice, there is no online form, no fee and no approval email for a standard visit. You check in for your flight, show your passport at Dubai immigration and receive the entry stamp. The permit is valid across all seven emirates, so a day trip to Abu Dhabi or Sharjah needs nothing extra. The UAE government sets out the visa-on-arrival rules in its entry permit guidance, and Kazakh passports fall under the 30-day arrangement.
| Your trip | What applies |
|---|---|
| Holiday or family visit of up to 30 days | Valid Kazakh passport; free entry stamp on arrival |
| Business meetings of up to 30 days | Same visa-free entry; paid work is not allowed |
| Stay planned beyond 30 days | A 60-day tourist visa arranged before you fly, subject to an eligibility check |
| Already in Dubai and need more days | An in-country extension, depending on your current status |
| Companion on another passport | A visa based on their own nationality |
What the Visa-Free Stamp Does Not Cover for Kazakhstan Nationals
The stamp is a visit permit. It lets you sightsee, see family, attend meetings and negotiate deals. It does not let you take up a job, whether that is a paid placement, a contract with a Dubai company or a few weeks of freelance work for a local client. Anyone heading over for employment needs a work route organised through an employer, which is a different process altogether.
Thirty days is also a ceiling, not a target. Book your return flight with a day or two in hand rather than on the final day, so a delayed or cancelled flight does not push you past your permitted stay.
Documents Kazakh Travellers Should Carry From Almaty or Astana
Because nothing is filed in advance, the paperwork for a visa-free trip is short. Have these ready before you leave home:
- Your Kazakh passport, valid for at least six months from the date you arrive in Dubai. Check this when you book, not at the airport.
- Your return or onward ticket. Check-in staff and the immigration officer can ask to see it, so keep it on your phone as well as in email.
- Where you are staying: a hotel booking, or the address and phone number of the friend or relative hosting you.
- A separate passport for every child in the group.
There are no photos, bank statements or invitation letters to prepare for the free entry stamp, because no application exists. Those details only matter if you apply for a longer visa. In that case the UAE visa requirements for Kazakhstan citizens are the same as for our other applicants: a clear scan of the passport bio page, a recent colour photo with a plain light background, and your flight and accommodation details.
Kazakh Children Flying to Dubai Without Both Parents
Every child needs their own passport, including babies. A child travelling without either parent needs a notarised power of attorney from the parents. When one parent is flying alone with the children, ask your airline before the day what consent paperwork it expects at check-in in Kazakhstan. That conversation takes five minutes and can save a missed flight. Keep a copy of any consent document on your phone too.
Landing in Dubai on a Kazakhstan Passport
At immigration, the officer checks your passport and adds the 30-day stamp. Count your days from the date on that stamp, and take a photo of the stamped page once you are through. If you lose track of dates later, that photo settles the count, and it helps if you ever need an extension. If you are asked about your plans, a short, clear answer with your hotel name and return date usually does the job.
Kazakhstan now runs on a single time zone, five hours ahead of GMT. Dubai is four hours ahead, so clocks in Dubai are one hour behind Almaty and Astana. It sounds minor, but it catches people out with hotel check-in times, airport pickups and the last bus or metro after a late arrival.
Money is straightforward. Prices in Dubai are in dirhams, and cards are accepted almost everywhere. If you buy one of our visas, the prices are listed in US dollars, so a card issued in Kazakhstan is charged in dollars and your bank converts the amount from tenge.
Planning More Than 30 Days: Dubai Visa Options From Kazakhstan
In short, a UAE visa for Kazakhstan citizens only comes into play once the stay goes beyond 30 days. If you already know your trip runs past a month, a visa arranged before departure is usually simpler than an extension. A long family visit, an extended winter break or a stay split between Dubai and the other emirates are typical reasons. Applying ahead also means you land with the full stay already approved rather than relying on a later decision.
The options that genuinely add something for a Kazakh traveller are these:
| Option | Best fit |
|---|---|
| 60-day single entry | One continuous stay of up to 60 days |
| 60-day multiple entry | Up to 60 days, with trips out of the country and back |
| 30-day inside-country extension | Already in Dubai and need roughly another month |
| 60-day inside-country extension | Already in Dubai and need a longer stay |
Each option has its current price and processing time on its visa card below, so you can compare them side by side. Before you apply for a Dubai visa from Kazakhstan, share your dates with our visa team: files are checked before they reach immigration, and if your passport already covers the trip, you will be told.
Single or Multiple Entry for a Kazakh Visitor Planning Side Trips
A single entry visa ends the moment you leave. If your plans include a few days abroad in the middle of the stay, a 60-day multiple entry visa lets you come back in while it remains valid. If you are staying put, single entry is the cheaper choice and works just as well.
Short notice? Once you have picked the right visa, express processing is available for eligible cases.
Kazakh Visitors Already in Dubai Who Need More Days
Plans change. A family event runs longer, a relative needs help, or a return flight gets moved. If you are already in the country on your 30-day stamp and need more time, an in-country extension is the route to look at. There are two lengths: a 30-day inside-country extension for a short top-up, and an option to extend by 60 days without leaving for longer stays.
Eligibility depends on your immigration status on the day you apply, so the team confirms it first. Start the process well before your 30 days run out. An application made on the last day leaves no margin if a document needs correcting. Keep any extension approval with your passport until departure.
Overstaying is expensive. A fine is charged for every day you remain beyond your permitted stay, and it must be settled before you can leave. Do not count on any grace period. If something unexpected keeps you in Dubai, speak to the team as soon as you know rather than after the date has passed.
Families and Groups From Kazakhstan With Mixed Passports
Visa-free entry follows the passport, not where you live. In a family where one parent holds a Kazakh passport and the other holds a different one, each person's entry depends on their own nationality. The same applies to relatives who live in Kazakhstan on a residence permit without being citizens: the residence permit does not give them the Kazakh visa-free entry.
For those travellers, we can file a 30-day single entry visa or a longer option, and family and group applications are filed together, so you are not juggling separate applications. If you want to understand each step first, see how the online application works before you start.
Mixed groups are also where most mistakes happen. One person on a visa-free passport books flights for everyone and assumes the whole party is covered. Check each passport separately before buying tickets.
Children follow their own passport as well. A child holding a Kazakh passport enters visa-free even when one parent needs a visa.
Dubai Entry for Kazakh Citizens Living in the United States
If you are a Kazakh citizen living in the United States, you still enter Dubai on your Kazakh passport, and the same 30-day rule applies. A US green card or visa does not change it. The point to watch is passport validity: renewing a Kazakh passport abroad means dealing with a consulate, so check the expiry date well before you book flights from the States.
Transit Stops in Dubai for Kazakh Passport Holders
On a layover where you stay inside the airport, you do not pass through immigration at all. If you want to leave the airport for a few hours or a night in the city, the visa-free entry applies as usual, so a transit visa is not needed for your Kazakh passport.
Travel companions on other passports may be in a different position. For them, a 48-hour transit visa covers a short stopover, and the 96-hour transit option gives up to four days.
Colleagues joining you for meetings who need a visa can use the 14-day business visa, while you travel on your stamp.
Dubai Trip Mistakes Kazakh Travellers Can Easily Avoid
None of these are complicated, but each one can spoil a trip:
- Booking the flight home on day 31, or on day 30 with no room for a delay.
- Travelling with a passport that has five months of validity left.
- Assuming a short freelance job is fine on a visit permit.
- Packing a child's expired passport by mistake.
- Paying for a visa you do not need. If your trip is 30 days or less on a Kazakh passport, you can simply travel.
That last point matters. We would rather tell you no visa is needed than sell you one that adds nothing.
