Dubai Visa for Luxembourg Citizens

Planning a Dubai trip from Luxembourg? If you hold an ordinary Luxembourg passport, the entry arrangements are easier than you might expect. You can normally arrive in the UAE without buying a tourist visa beforehand and spend up to 90 days there within a 180-day period. This guide explains the Dubai visa for Luxembourg citizens, the flights available from Findel and what to arrange when family members travel on different passports.

What Your Luxembourg Passport Covers in Dubai

Luxembourg appears on the UAE's official list of visa-exempt nationalities. At the airport, an eligible visitor receives permission for a short stay without paying an advance tourist-visa fee. The allowance covers the UAE as a whole, so a visit that combines Dubai with Abu Dhabi still counts towards the same permitted stay. You can confirm Luxembourg's status in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs entry list.

Bring your actual Luxembourg passport, not just your national identity card. Aim for at least six months of remaining passport validity on the day you enter. The free visitor permission is designed for holidays, family visits and other permitted short trips; a job or a move to the UAE calls for a different arrangement.

Planning Two Holidays? Count Both Visits

A ten-day winter break and a three-week autumn stay might sound like separate trips, but they are both part of your UAE travel history. For Luxembourg visitors, the allowance is generally 90 days within any 180-day period. Arriving again does not automatically give you another 90 days. Keep a simple note of your arrival and departure dates, particularly if Dubai has become a regular getaway.

It matters more if you visit relatives often, work remotely across several countries or plan to spend a large part of winter in the Gulf. Before committing to a longer booking, check how much of your permitted stay remains. Our Dubai entry guide explains the wider visitor categories if your plans require something beyond a normal holiday.

Flying from Findel: One Airport Detail Worth Checking

Luxembourg Airport is a convenient departure point, especially if you live near the capital or can reach Findel by public transport. But don't assume an advertised Luxembourg–Dubai service is operating on your chosen date. Luxair has postponed the return of its seasonal nonstop Dubai route, so check its current timetable before planning around a direct flight.

DWC and DXB are not the same airport

Luxair's announced Dubai route uses Dubai World Central (DWC). Many connections offered through major airlines arrive at Dubai International (DXB). Both airports serve Dubai, but the drive to your accommodation can be quite different. If you're staying near Dubai Marina or Palm Jumeirah, check transfers from the actual airport on your booking, not simply the word “Dubai” in the itinerary.

Connections can be a practical choice

Depending on the date, you may find flights from Findel connecting through Frankfurt, Zurich, Munich, Vienna or Istanbul. A cheaper fare is not always the better deal once you add ground transport, baggage and a possible overnight stop. Compare the complete door-to-door journey before booking. If you connect in another country, confirm whether checked luggage travels directly to Dubai on your ticket.

A Simple Arrival Checklist for Luxembourg Travellers

Once your itinerary is fixed, keep the essentials together. You should be able to reach them easily at check-in or on arrival, rather than searching through separate email accounts in the arrivals hall.

  • A Luxembourg passport with sufficient remaining validity.
  • Your return or onward flight details and the address of your accommodation.
  • Travel insurance that includes medical treatment in the UAE.
  • Any prescription information or medicine permissions relevant to what you are carrying.
  • For children, their own passports and any parental-consent papers needed for the journey.

Going with a Partner Who Isn't a Luxembourg Citizen?

Imagine a couple living in Esch-sur-Alzette: one partner has a Luxembourg passport and the other has a passport from a country whose citizens normally need a UAE visa. They can fly together, but their entry arrangements may be different. The Luxembourg passport holder can use the usual free arrival route; the other traveller may need an approved entry permit before boarding.

This is where passport nationality, rather than home address, makes the difference. A Luxembourg residence permit by itself is not the same as Luxembourg citizenship. Some foreign nationals with qualifying EU residence documentation have special UAE entry options, so it is worth checking those rules before selecting a paid service.

If an accompanying traveller does need advance approval, explore our 30-day tourist visa or 60-day tourist visa pages according to their plans. These are possible solutions for visa-required passports—not extra paperwork for the Luxembourg citizen in the same booking.

Taking Children to Dubai Without Last-Minute Stress

For a family holiday, check every child's passport early. Children cannot rely on a parent's passport to enter the UAE. If a child has dual nationality, decide which valid passport will be used for travel and check the rules for that document. Keep the passport details consistent across the airline booking and any visa application.

When one parent travels alone with the children, a birth certificate or consent letter may be useful, depending on your circumstances and airline requirements. Families who normally travel around Europe with national identity cards should remember that Dubai requires passports.

The Real Budget: Flights, Hotels and Who Pays a Visa Fee

For an eligible ordinary Luxembourg passport, the standard short-visit entry permission is free of charge. Your holiday budget will therefore be driven mainly by flights, accommodation, transport, meals and activities. Dubai prices are generally displayed in UAE dirhams, so check your card's foreign-currency charges and the exchange rate offered at payment terminals.

Visitor needing work or residence permissionPurpose-specific processCosts for that separate category

For a companion who needs advance permission, our team can help choose a suitable application route, organise the required documents and explain the complete service price before checkout. You can compare the multiple-entry tourist option when the traveller will leave and return to the UAE during the same trip. This keeps a family booking coordinated while respecting each person's own entry requirements.

Travel Insurance, Healthcare and Everyday Payments

The European Health Insurance Card is useful within its participating European countries, but it does not replace travel medical insurance in Dubai. Choose cover that suits your visit, especially if you're travelling with children or planning adventure activities. If you take regular medication, carry it in its original packaging and check whether UAE import rules require supporting documentation.

Hotels may request a card deposit on arrival. Take a second payment method, and check that your debit or credit card is enabled for transactions outside Europe. Mobile roaming is another cost that catches travellers out: compare your operator's UAE package with an appropriate local or travel eSIM before leaving Luxembourg.

Dubai for a Wedding, Conference or Family Reunion

You might be heading to a family celebration, attending an exhibition at Dubai World Trade Centre or visiting someone who has moved from Luxembourg to the Emirates. The same short-visit entry rules generally cover permitted tourism and business meetings, provided you remain within the conditions granted on arrival.

For a wedding party with guests arriving from Luxembourg, Belgium and farther afield, collect each person's passport nationality early rather than making a single assumption for the group. Our Belgium entry guide is helpful for Belgian guests, while the Turkey visa guide explains a different situation for Turkish ordinary passports.

What About a Dubai Stopover on a Longer Journey?

If your connection allows enough time, a few hours in Dubai can make a long journey more enjoyable. Luxembourg passport holders using their normal entry entitlement can usually leave the airport for a short visit without buying a separate transit visa. First check how much time is available after immigration, airport transfers and the return security queue.

Someone travelling with you on a visa-required passport may need different arrangements. Our 48-hour transit visa guide explains one option for eligible passengers. If you're changing between DXB and DWC, include the ground journey in your plans rather than treating the two airports as a single terminal.

Ready to Put the Trip Together?

For Luxembourg citizens, the best first step is to settle your travel dates and confirm your passport is ready. From there, choose the flight and arrival airport that work for your hotel, book suitable insurance and keep your return journey details handy.
