Dubai Visa for Paraguayan Citizens
Holders of a Paraguayan passport can fly to the UAE without arranging a visa in advance. At the immigration counter you are stamped in free of charge, and airline guidance describes that stamp as a multiple-entry visit visa that stays valid for six months and covers 90 days of stay in total. That reflects the UAE's published exemption table and the entry notes from Emirates and flydubai as of October 2026. For most Paraguayan travellers there is nothing to buy. If a companion's passport does need a visa, or you want more than 90 days, our visa options for passports that need one are built for exactly that.
What the arrival stamp gives you
The UAE foreign ministry's visa-exemption table lists Paraguay as visa free. Emirates and flydubai supply the detail for the 90-day group that Paraguay sits in: a multiple-entry visit visa, valid for six months from the date of issue, with a stay of 90 days in total. Those two numbers do different jobs. Six months is the window during which the stamp can be used for entries. Ninety days is the ceiling on the time you actually spend in the country inside that window.
Some practical consequences follow. You pay no visa fee to enter, you upload nothing before departure and you wait for no approval email. Our own applications ask for a recent photograph, a passport scan, accommodation details and flight details; those belong to routes for passports that need a visa in advance, and a Paraguayan passport holder arriving on the stamp has no equivalent upload step.
The stamp is a visit permit, so it suits holidays and family visits. Taking a job or moving to the UAE is a different matter, because a visit stamp is not a work or residence permit, and anyone with that in mind should ask before travelling. Airline notes also warn that diplomatic, service and other non-standard passports can face different entry rules, so everything here assumes an ordinary Paraguayan passport.
Residence rarely matters, with one exception. A Paraguayan citizen living in another country is assessed on the passport in hand, so the same stamp applies whether the journey starts in Asunción or in a city abroad. The exception is residence in a Gulf state. Airline guidance says holders of residence permits in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain or Oman must obtain a UAE e-visa before travelling and are not offered the arrival stamp. If that describes you, applying in advance is the route, and the five-step application process shows how it works.
Passport, names and the six-month rule
The one document everybody needs is the passport itself. UAE guidance mentions national ID cards as an entry document only in connection with citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council, so carry your passport and keep your cédula as a backup for your own records rather than something to hand over at the counter.
Validity deserves a calendar check. UAE guidance asks for a passport valid for at least six months from the date you enter. Count forward from the day you land, not the day you leave home. Land on 12 March 2027 and the passport should still be valid on 12 September 2027; land on 30 November 2026 and the date to clear is 30 May 2027. If your passport falls short, renew it first, because a renewal appointment can take longer than a flight booking.
Names deserve a second look too. Many Paraguayan passports carry two surnames, and booking systems can shorten them. Type your name on tickets and hotel reservations exactly as the data page prints it, with every given name and both surnames, so the officer's screen and your passport tell the same story. If a name on an existing booking differs from your passport, ask the airline or hotel to correct it well before the travel date.
Planning around the 90-day total
Because the stamp is multiple-entry, you can leave and return within its six-month window. What stays fixed is the 90-day total. Airline notes do not publish a day-counting method beyond calling it a total, so plan cautiously: treat days already spent as spent, keep your own record, and compare it with the dates printed in your passport instead of assuming extra days. Four trip shapes show how this plays out.
- One long stay. Arrive, stay up to 90 days, leave. The six-month window barely matters here, since the 90-day ceiling arrives first.
- Two or three shorter stays. Suppose the stamp is issued in early October. A first visit of 40 days uses 40 of the 90 and leaves 50. A return in early February lasting 35 days leaves 15. The window still has about two months to run, yet a third visit of three weeks would overshoot the total even though the stamp itself remains valid.
- A stopover on the way elsewhere. A two-night layover costs two days from the total. The cost is small, but it belongs in the same record as everything else.
- Frequent short hops. Six trips of a week each use 42 days, comfortably inside the total. Published guidance says nothing about what happens once the six months run out, so ask before counting on a fresh 90 days.
A phone note with three columns (arrival date, departure date, days used) is plenty. When the stamp goes into your passport, read whatever dates it shows and plan against those; a mistake is easiest to raise while you are still at the counter.
Side trips follow the same logic. Because the stamp allows multiple entries, a few days in Oman or Bahrain followed by a return to the UAE stay within its six-month window, and days spent outside the UAE should not use up your balance, since the airline wording speaks of days of stay. Entry rules for those other countries are set by those countries, so check them for a Paraguayan passport separately and keep the return leg in your date record.
Layovers and transit visas
A journey from Paraguay to Asia, Africa or Europe may well route through the UAE, and a day or two outside the airport can make a long connection feel shorter. If you plan to leave the airport during a layover, the arrival stamp covers you; it is a visit stay like any other, simply a short one.
The 48-hour and 96-hour transit visas sold by airlines and agents are pre-arranged permits meant for travellers whose passports require a visa in advance, so a Paraguayan passport holder has no need for one. Layover nights still count toward the 90 days like any other night.
Travelling with someone from another country
Visa rules follow the passport, not the booking reference. Paraguay has three land neighbours, and they split in a way that catches mixed-nationality families out. Argentine and Brazilian passports sit in the same 90-day group as yours, so a spouse, cousin or friend from either country arrives on the same terms. Bolivian passports appear as visa required on the UAE foreign ministry's table, so a Bolivian companion needs a visa organised before departure. One person walks to the counter with a passport and the other needs paperwork in hand.
When someone in your party does need a visa, our visa team can prepare that application separately while you travel visa free. Choose the stay length by their plans rather than yours. A 30-day single-entry visa suits one trip with no crossings out of the UAE; a 30-day multiple-entry visa fits a trip that dips into Oman or Bahrain and returns; a 60-day single-entry visa gives a longer family stay. Read the checklist of the option you choose before uploading anything, because each route lists its own requirements, and if their travel date is close, ask about an express application too.
Families with mixed passports can have the applications for the members who need paperwork filed together, so one conversation covers everyone who needs a visa while the Paraguayan passport holders simply pack.
Why you may not need a visa at all
It is natural to assume a trip to Dubai starts with an application. For a Paraguayan passport it does not. A 30-day or 60-day visa offers fewer days than the 90-day stamp you already qualify for, so buying one is not a step up in access.
Applying makes sense in a short list of situations: a companion whose passport needs a visa, residence in a Gulf state, a passport that is not an ordinary one, or a stay planned to run past what the stamp allows where a pre-arranged route has been confirmed as open to you. Outside those cases, the free stamp is the simpler road, and our team would rather tell you so than take a payment you did not need to make.
When 90 days will not be enough
Plenty of trips fit inside the allowance, but some do not: a long family visit, a seasonal stay, a plan that grows once you arrive. Three routes exist, and they differ in how much certainty they offer.
Decide early. A plan that already runs past 90 days on the day you book is easier to handle than one that stretches mid-trip, because each route takes time to check and the pre-arranged option may not be open to you. Write down the date your balance reaches zero, then work backwards: a question about extra time should reach our team well before that date, not on it.
The first is to finish within the total. Leave before it runs out and plan any new visit around your remaining balance.
The second is an inside-country extension. Whether one is open to you depends on how your stay was granted and your current immigration status, so send your stamp details to our support team before choosing a package. Our 30-day inside-country extension exists for eligible visit stays. Starting before your permitted days end matters, because the UAE fines overstays at AED 50 per day, a figure that grows fast over a few weeks.
The third is a pre-arranged visit visa once the arrival stay is used up. Published guidance is not consistent on whether Paraguayan passport holders can take this route, so confirm it for your own passport before building a plan around it. Whichever route you consider, the UAE immigration authorities decide each case, and approval cannot be promised in advance.
A checklist for the week before you fly
- Passport: valid for at least six months beyond the day you land, in good condition, with the data page clean and readable.
- Names: identical on passport, flight ticket and hotel booking, including both surnames if your passport shows two.
- Dates: arrival date, planned departure date and the day count against your 90-day total, written where you can find them.
- Stay details: hotel name, address and phone number saved on your phone, in case an officer asks where you will be staying.
- Onward plans: your departure or onward flight easy to show, if asked. None of this is a published entry requirement for Paraguayan passport holders; it simply keeps a counter conversation short.
- Companions: each person's passport checked on its own against the exemption table, children included.
- Stopover nights: any layover nights counted into the 90 as well.
Where our team fits in
Plenty of Paraguayan travellers will never need anything from us, and that is a perfectly good outcome. Our team steps in for particular cases: a companion whose passport needs a visa, a stay that must run past 90 days, or a question about the stamp in your passport. We prepare and submit applications, check files before they reach immigration and keep you updated through the application status tracker. We are an independent service with no connection to GDRFA or ICP and no authority to grant or refuse a visa, which is why every decision stays with the UAE immigration authorities.
If your plans change before or during the trip, send us the details and we will point you to the right option.
