Dubai Visa for Polish Citizens
A Polish passport lets you fly to Dubai without arranging a visa in advance. The permission is issued at the border at no charge and covers up to 90 days. What deserves your attention before you book is the document in your hand: a regular Polish passport with enough validity works, while a national ID card or a temporary passport does not. If anyone travelling with you holds a different nationality, there are separate Dubai visa options for other passports to consider.
The UAE foreign ministry's entry-requirements list shows Poland among the visa-free countries, and immigration officers make the final call at the border, working from the passport you present. Everything here assumes an ordinary Polish passport. If you hold a diplomatic, service or special passport, confirm your position with the authority that issued it.
Only a passport will do
The free entry is tied to a passport. The dowód osobisty, Poland's national ID card, works for travel within the EU but is no substitute when you fly to the UAE. A photo of the data page on your phone makes a useful backup, though only the physical passport clears the border.
A temporary passport is the other common stumbling block. Polish consular guidance says holders of temporary passports will not be admitted, and that this type of document is honoured only for transit through the UAE or for leaving the country. If you collected an emergency passport shortly before departure, check what kind it is before paying for anything that can't be refunded, and ask the passport office whether a regular one can be ready in time.
Each traveller needs a passport of their own, children included. A family trip is only as strong as its weakest document, so check every one individually.
Connecting through Dubai to somewhere else
Dubai doubles as a hub for onward flights to Asia, East Africa and the Indian Ocean. Staying airside while you change planes doesn't normally involve entering the country. Walking out of the terminal during a long layover is an entry in its own right, and the passport rules for entry apply in full: a temporary passport that is fine for connecting will not get you out of the building. A nine-hour layover that includes lunch in the city is an entry, not a connection.
With a regular Polish passport there is no need to buy a transit visa for a layover or a stopover, because the free entry already covers it. Your onward destination has its own entry rules, which are separate from everything written here.
Six months, counted from the day you land
UAE guidance asks for a passport valid for at least six months from the date you enter the country. The clock starts on your arrival day, not on the day you book or the day you fly home. A passport that looks comfortably valid for the holiday itself can still come up short, which surprises people whose document is only a few months from expiring. The rule doesn't soften for short visits: a four-day city break needs the same six months as a three-week holiday.
These sample arrival dates show the earliest expiry that works.
| Arrival date | Passport must be valid until at least |
|---|---|
| 3 November 2026 | 3 May 2027 |
| 15 December 2026 | 15 June 2027 |
| 20 January 2027 | 20 July 2027 |
| 1 March 2027 | 1 September 2027 |
Run the sum with your own date and read the expiry printed on the data page rather than trusting memory. Children's passports often expire sooner than a parent's, so give them the same check. If the margin is thin, renew first and book afterwards. Working backwards helps too: a passport that expires on 30 June 2027 is good only for arrivals up to 30 December 2026, so a January trip on it means renewing before you go.
Spelling your name the way the passport does
Polish names often contain letters that booking systems elsewhere don't, such as Ł, Ą, Ę or Ż. The data page prints them as they are, but the two machine-readable lines at the foot of that page use plain letters (L, A, E and Z). Łukasz becomes LUKASZ in those lines, Żaneta becomes ZANETA, and Ć, Ń, Ó, Ś and Ź lose their marks in the same way. Airlines usually expect the name as it appears in those lines, so a reservation with accents or a creative spelling can mean questions at check-in. Copy the spelling from the bottom lines whenever a form lets you choose. UAE hotels usually register guests from their passports, so a booking in the passport's spelling is the easiest to match at reception. This is a practical habit rather than a UAE rule, and it takes a minute.
What else to have within reach
Polish consular guidance lists the passport as the document you need for a tourist stay of up to 90 days, and nothing else. Airlines run their own check-in rules, though, so read what yours asks for when you book, and keep the flight and your first night's stay easy to open on your phone. Nothing in the official guidance makes those bookings a condition of entry; keeping them handy is simply a habit that saves a scramble if someone asks about your plans.
Keeping a running count of your days
At the border you receive a permission described as multiple-entry and valid for six months, with 90 days of stay in total. Polish consular guidance puts the same limit as 90 days within a 180-day period. Sources word it differently, so don't lean on one reading: treat your running total of days as the number that matters. In plain terms, the six months describes how long the permission can be used, and the 90 days describes how much of that time you can spend in the UAE.
Take someone who spends 40 days in the UAE over New Year, returns in March for 30 days and plans a third visit of 25 days in May. The first two trips use 70 days and leave 20, so the May trip would overrun by five days. Shortening it to 20 days or fewer solves the problem, and checking how your own dates are counted is wise if you land close to the limit.
A single long stay works the same way. An 80-day winter escape leaves a margin of ten days, enough to absorb a delayed flight but not a second trip in the same period. Two stays of 45 days fit exactly, which leaves no room for any delay.
Note every entry and exit date in your phone as you go, including the quick hops, because short trips count as well. If you do stay past what the permission allows, the UAE government sets the overstay fine at AED 50 for each extra day, and it climbs quickly.
What the free entry is meant for
Polish consular guidance names the purposes covered by visa-free travel: tourism, cultural and scientific visits, and seeing family or friends. A holiday, a stay with relatives or a festival weekend fits without extra paperwork, and the permission is a federal one, so it covers the UAE as a whole rather than Dubai alone.
Work is different. Taking a job in the UAE has its own permit and process, and a trade fair, client meeting or short assignment is worth confirming before you buy tickets, because the right entry route depends on what you will actually be doing. Buying property in some emirates can also lead to a long-stay visa, but that is a separate process from visiting.
Read Poland's travel advice before booking
Poland's foreign ministry publishes travel advice for the UAE that has been updated several times since early 2026. Read the current version before you pay for flights or hotels, and ask your insurer where it stands on the region today. While advice is moving, flexible fares and cancellable hotels cost a little more up front and protect you if plans have to change.
The ministry grades countries on a four-step scale, from ordinary caution to advising against every journey. At the third step it recommends against trips that aren't necessary, such as tourism, and treats only urgent work or family matters as acceptable reasons to go.
The ministry also runs Odyseusz, a registration service where Polish travellers can log a trip so officials can reach them abroad if something happens. It is an easy precaution to forget until you need it. The ministry also tells travellers to follow airline announcements closely, because flights can be delayed or cancelled at short notice.
When your group holds different passports
The rules follow the passport, not the address. Everyone receives an individual permission at the border. Someone who lives in Poland on another nationality's passport isn't covered by what's written here, and neither is a partner or child whose passport differs from yours. Picture a family of three: a Polish parent, a parent with another passport, and a child who holds Polish papers. Two of them follow Polish rules and one follows the rules of a different country, so each person gets checked on their own passport and the trip is booked once every route is clear. A group of friends is the same story: one person whose passport expires within six months of the arrival date can't join on that date, and it is far easier to discover that while the flights are still changeable.
A small group of nationalities has a separate short-stay route when they live in an EU country such as Poland, with stays of 14 or 60 days and conditions of its own. Whether it applies depends on the passport, so look up the nationality printed on the passport itself.
When a companion does need a visa, the common starting points are the 30-day single-entry visa and the 60-day single-entry visa. Relatives can be filed together on one application, and the application steps are explained in plain language. Once a file exists you can follow it on the visa status tracker.
If ninety days won't be enough
Polish consular guidance tells anyone planning a longer stay to contact the local immigration authority about registering it. Do that while the allowance still has room, not in the final week.
Two other routes come up often, and both deserve care. An extension arranged from inside the UAE depends on the status you entered with, so ask before your last day; our in-country visa extension covers requests that qualify. A pre-arranged visit visa after the arrival allowance is used up is the second, and guidance on it isn't consistent between sources, so confirm it for your passport before you plan around it.
Because the answer turns on your dates and passport, the quickest step is to ask our team before booking flights. We are an independent visa service rather than a government office, but we can explain what's open to you and file what qualifies. Have four things ready when you ask: the passport's expiry date, your planned arrival and departure dates, the purpose of the trip, and how many UAE days you have recently used.
A short list for the days before departure
- Passport type: a regular biometric passport, not an ID card or a temporary document.
- Expiry: at least six months after your arrival date, checked for every traveller.
- Name: the same spelling as the passport's machine-readable lines, on tickets and hotel bookings.
- Day count: your running total of UAE days, with entry and exit dates written down.
- Advice: the current version of Poland's travel advice, plus your insurer's position.
- Airline: its check-in rules and any announcements about your travel date.
- Purpose: a holiday or family visit, or a confirmed answer if the trip involves work.
If every line checks out, you probably need nothing from us, and that's a good result. If one doesn't, or someone in your party needs a visa, our support team will help you sort it out before you book.
