Turkmen Passport Holders and the Dubai E-Visa: How to Apply

Citizens of Turkmenistan need a visa issued in advance to enter Dubai; a Turkmen passport is not eligible for a visa on arrival. The good news is that no embassy visit is involved: the whole online visit visa application takes place on the internet, and the approved e-visa arrives electronically. Your passport must remain valid for at least six months after the date you land, and the airline at Ashgabat will look for the approval before letting you board.

Below, each part of a Dubai visa for Turkmenistan citizens is covered in turn: picking a length, preparing uploads, paying from Turkmenistan or abroad, and the rules for relatives on Uzbek, Russian or other passports.

Dubai Visa: Turkmenistan Passport Holders Apply Before Travel

The UAE divides foreign visitors into nationalities that are admitted on arrival and nationalities that must hold an approved visa beforehand. Turkmenistan belongs to the second category, and Turkmen nationals are also outside the special arrival route available to a handful of countries whose citizens hold residence in the US, the EU, the UK or other listed states. The official UAE explanation of visa categories sets out how the groups are drawn.

In practice, a Dubai visa from Turkmenistan is sponsored by a licensed provider such as our service, approved by the UAE immigration authority and stored against your passport number. Nothing is stamped into the passport before you fly.

Dubai Visa Turkmenistan Checklist: Five Questions Before You Apply

This short Dubai visa Turkmenistan checklist prevents most delays:

  1. Does your passport stay valid for six months beyond the arrival date? If not, renew it first, because a visa cannot be moved to a new passport.
  2. Is the trip a holiday, a family visit or business? Meetings and trade fairs need the business visa.
  3. What is the total length of the stay? That number decides the visa length.
  4. Will you leave the UAE and come back before flying home? If so, choose multiple entry.
  5. Who else is travelling, and on which passports? Some companions may not need to apply at all.

Choosing a Dubai Visa for Turkmenistan Citizens by Length and Entries

LengthEntriesTypical Turkmen traveller
7-day visaOneA quick shopping or sightseeing visit
30-day one-entry visaOneHolidays and most family trips
30-day multi-entry visaSeveralA month that includes travel to a neighbouring country
60-day one-entry visaOneParents staying with children who live in Dubai
60-day multi-entry visaSeveralLong stays broken up by trips out of the country

The one-month visa with a single entry is priced at USD 120. The other visas list their own prices and processing times on the cards below.

When One Entry Is Not Enough on a Turkmen Dubai Visa

Departing the UAE cancels whatever is left of a single-entry visa. Anyone planning a few days in another Gulf country, or a trip home to Ashgabat in the middle of a long stay, should take a multiple-entry visa so that the return to Dubai is covered. Entry conditions in that other country, for a Turkmen passport, are a separate check.

Turkmen Passport, Photo and Booking: Uploads for a Dubai Visa From Turkmenistan

  • A sharp colour image of the passport's personal data page, with no glare across the photograph or the lower code lines.
  • A recent portrait against a plain pale background, sized as described in the Dubai visa photo guide.
  • Planned arrival and departure dates.
  • The hotel or private address where you will stay in Dubai.

Occasionally the authority asks for more, for example details of a host or a business contact. The guide to Dubai visitor visa requirements lists these situations.

Turkmen Letters, Russian Spellings and Your Dubai E-Visa

The Turkmen alphabet includes letters such as ç, ş, ň, ž, ý, ä, ö and ü, and surnames often end in -ow or -owa. Older documents and many relatives use Russian-style spellings instead, so the same family name can look quite different from one paper to the next. For the Dubai e-visa, only one version matters: the spelling printed in the two coded lines along the foot of your current passport. Use it on the visa form and on the flight booking alike.

Card Payments From Ashgabat: Settling the Turkmen Dubai Visa Fee

Fees are billed in US dollars to a bank card. Bank cards issued in Turkmenistan do not always work for international online purchases, so check with your bank before you start the application. If your card cannot be used for a foreign payment, ask our team which alternative payment methods can be used rather than abandoning the file halfway. Turkmen citizens in Turkey or Russia usually pay with a locally issued bank card.

How Long a Turkmen Dubai Visa Takes and When to Apply

Processing time is stated on each visa card in working days, and the clock starts once a complete application, including a usable photo, has been received. Weekends and UAE public holidays do not count, and neither do days spent waiting for a replacement photo, so a clean first submission is fastest. Apply comfortably ahead of your planned departure, then buy the flight once the e-visa has arrived. For trips at short notice, eligible files can be sent through faster visa processing, while the visa application status tool shows where each file stands.

After Approval: What to Check on a Turkmen Dubai E-Visa

When the e-visa arrives, read it line by line against the passport: full name, passport number, date of birth and nationality. A single wrong character can stop you at check-in, and it is far easier to correct before travel than at the airport. Note the date by which you must enter Dubai, which is printed on the visa, and remember that the permitted stay is counted from arrival day rather than from the issue date. Save a digital copy on your phone as well as a printed one.

Ashgabat to Dubai: Boarding and Arrival With a Turkmen Dubai Visa

flydubai operates nonstop flights between Ashgabat and Dubai, with a flight time of around three hours and arrival at Terminal 2 of Dubai International. Dubai's clocks are one hour behind Turkmenistan's. At check-in, airline staff match your passport to the visa record before issuing the boarding pass, and Dubai passport control does the same on arrival. Carry a printed copy of the e-visa and keep your return ticket and accommodation details available for the immigration officer. The days on your visa are counted from the date you enter.

Turkmen Citizens in Turkey and Russia: Applying for a Dubai Visa From Abroad

Large Turkmen communities live and work in Turkey and Russia, and many trips to Dubai start from Istanbul or Moscow. A Turkish residence permit or a Russian work patent does not open an arrival visa for a Turkmen passport, so the process is exactly the same as from Ashgabat: apply online, wait for approval, then fly. The visa is linked to the passport rather than the country of departure, so you can apply from one country and fly from another.

Turkmen Nationals in the United States or Europe: Dubai Visa Still Required

The same applies to Turkmen citizens with a US green card or a European residence permit. Those routes are reserved for a short list of other nationalities, so a Turkmen passport holder in New York or Berlin still needs a visa approved before departure.

Term Breaks Abroad: Turkmen Students and Their Dubai Visa

Turkmen students at universities in Belarus, Turkey, Russia or elsewhere often visit Dubai during term breaks. A student residence permit in those countries does not change the requirement, so apply online a few weeks before the break begins, when flights and approvals are busiest, and check that your student permit allows you to return on the planned date.

Dubai Visa for Turkmen Visitors Staying With Working Relatives

A growing number of Turkmen nationals live and work in the UAE, and parents and siblings often come to stay with them. For a short visit the 30-day visa is enough; for parents staying through a whole season, the 60-day single-entry visa avoids the need to extend. When the visa is handled by our service, the relative in Dubai does not have to act as sponsor, but their home address and phone number are needed for the application and officers at the airport sometimes ask for them.

Dubai Visa Rules for Uzbek, Kazakh, Russian and Iranian Companions

Families and travel groups from Turkmenistan often combine several nationalities. Each person follows the rule attached to their own passport:

  • Uzbek and Kazakh passport holders are granted 30 days on arrival.
  • Russian and Azerbaijani citizens are on the UAE's 90-day arrival list.
  • Iranian, Afghan and Turkish citizens, like Turkmen nationals, must obtain a visa in advance.

Where only part of a group needs visas, file those applications together and confirm everyone's approval before anyone buys a ticket.

Turkmen Families Applying Together for Dubai Visas

A family file contains one application per person. Babies and children need their own Turkmen passports and their own photos, and their visas are issued individually. Use one email address and one phone number for the family so any question from the authority reaches the right person quickly. If a child is flying with only one parent, a signed letter of permission from the parent staying behind, a photocopy of that parent's passport and the child's birth certificate should travel with the family.

Turkmen Traders and Managers: Dubai Visa for Business Meetings

Turkmen traders, construction suppliers and company managers travel to Dubai for negotiations, exhibitions and sourcing. These visits fit the Dubai business visa valid for 14 days; keep the name and address of the company you are visiting ready for the application. A short covering letter in English from your employer in Turkmenistan, explaining the purpose of the trip, is also useful to carry. Accepting paid work in Dubai is not allowed on any visit visa; a job requires the employer to arrange a work permit first.

Layovers on a Turkmen Passport: Dubai Transit Visa Choices

Passengers who change planes in Dubai and stay inside the transit area do not need a visa. If a long connection makes a trip into the city worthwhile, apply for the two-day Dubai transit permit or the four-day Dubai transit permit before travelling, as neither can be obtained on arrival with a Turkmen passport.

Extending a Turkmen Visitor's Dubai Visa

Plans sometimes change after landing, and our team can check whether your current visa can be followed by an in-country 30-day visa or an in-country 60-day visa without leaving the UAE. Ask well before the existing visa expires, because approval is not automatic and depends on your status.

Refused or Delayed: Fixing a Turkmen Dubai Visa Application

Most delays come from avoidable details: a photo with shadows or a coloured background, a name typed with Russian spelling instead of the passport spelling, a passport too close to expiry, or an unpaid fine from an earlier UAE visit. If an application has been refused, correct the cause before trying again and mention the refusal to our team, rather than submitting the same file through several agents at once.

What a Turkmen Overstay on a Dubai Visa Costs

Staying after the visa expires costs AED 50 for every additional day, and the total has to be paid before you are allowed to depart. No grace period applies. An unpaid overstay can also count against later applications, so keep your return date inside the visa's validity with a day or two to spare.
