Saudi Passport or Saudi Iqama? Start With the Right Rule

If You Hold a Saudi Passport
Saudi citizens do not need to buy a Dubai tourist visa simply for a normal visit to the UAE. As GCC nationals, they can enter under the GCC-citizen rule. Carry the Saudi travel document you intend to use and make sure its details are valid for your journey. If you travel on a passport, keep at least six months of validity from the planned UAE entry date.

If You Live in Saudi Arabia on an Iqama
A Saudi Iqama does not automatically give a foreign passport holder visa-free entry to Dubai. Eligible expatriate residents can use the UAE's GCC-resident eVisa route, which must be arranged before arrival. Current entry conditions include a passport valid for at least six months, a valid Saudi residence permit or electronic residence record showing the profession and residence validity, and an occupation that meets the applicable assessment.
Current UAE guidance also states that GCC residence should remain valid for at least one year from the UAE arrival date. Five Checks That Matter Before an Iqama Holder Applies
- Passport nationality: your passport may already qualify for another UAE entry route, or it may require advance approval.
- Iqama validity: confirm that the Saudi residence permit will still meet the required validity on the date you enter the UAE.
- Profession on the Iqama: the GCC-resident route is subject to profession assessment.
- Travel purpose: tourism, a short stopover and repeated entries can require different products.
- Travel dates: apply with enough time for document checks or any additional information request.
