Standard conditions still apply: a passport valid for at least six months from your arrival date, evidence of onward or return travel, and — at the immigration officer's discretion — proof of accommodation or sufficient funds. Visa-free entry does not permit employment, study, or any licensed business activity, and it can be refused at the border regardless of nationality if an officer has concerns.

Visa on Arrival

"Visa on arrival" is used loosely across the travel industry, and it is worth being precise about what it actually means for the UAE. For the large majority of visa-exempt nationalities, the free entry stamp described above is the on-arrival mechanism — there is no separate paid product layered on top of it. Conditional Visa on Arrival

A small set of nationalities can access a visa on arrival only when paired with a supporting document: a valid visa, Green Card, or residence permit issued by one of nine approved countries or blocs. Conditional Visa on Arrival With a Foreign Visa or Residence Permit

Effective 25 June 2026, UAE immigration authorities extended the conditional visa-on-arrival facility that had previously applied to Indian passport holders to six additional nationalities: Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya, and South Africa. This is one of the more consequential UAE entry changes of 2026, and it is easy to describe inaccurately, so the mechanics matter.

Accepted issuing countries or blocs for the qualifying document (must be valid, and ordinarily expected to run at least six months beyond your arrival date): United States, United Kingdom, European Union member states, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. The facility also extends to accompanying family members of an eligible traveller who separately meet the same passport-and-permit combination.

Which Dubai Visa Should You Apply For?

30-Day Single-Entry Tourist Visa

The most searched and most applied-for Dubai visa. Best suited to a single holiday, one UAE entry, and no plan to leave and re-enter. Standard processing runs a few working days; it can be extended once inside the UAE, which is often more expensive than applying for the 60-day visa upfront if a longer stay is even slightly likely.

60-Day Single-Entry Tourist Visa

Better value per day than the 30-day visa, and cheaper than a 30-day visa plus a later extension. Suits extended family visits, slower-paced holidays, or travellers who are not yet certain how long they will stay. Official government fee is AED 352 including VAT; typical all-in total runs AED 580–900.

Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa

Needed only if you plan to leave the UAE and come back within the visa's validity window — for example a Dubai–Oman–Dubai loop, or a Dubai stop sandwiched between two other countries. One clarification worth stating plainly: travelling between Dubai and Abu Dhabi does not require a multiple-entry visa, because both are inside the UAE and moving between emirates is not a new country entry.

48- and 96-Hour Transit Visas

Relevant only when you are genuinely travelling onward to a third destination and your airline is prepared to sponsor the transit visa — it is not a cheaper substitute for an ordinary short holiday, and immigration and airline staff can and do decline it when the stated purpose does not match a real onward itinerary. Neither transit visa is extendable. Airlines that fly a mix of passport-required nationalities may apply their own additional restrictions on top of the UAE rule, so confirm transit eligibility with your specific airline before assuming it applies to you.

Five-Year Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa

Designed for frequent visitors rather than one-off holidaymakers. Based on this site's own published guidance, eligibility conditions commonly include a passport valid for at least two years from the date of application, bank statements showing a minimum balance around USD 4,000 maintained for the six months prior to applying, valid UAE health insurance, and a clean immigration record. It is not universally available to every nationality or every applicant who applies — treat it as a route to explore rather than a guaranteed entitlement, and confirm current criteria before applying.

Dubai Visa Price by Visa Type

The Dubai visa price for any type breaks into an official government fee (fixed by UAE immigration authorities and identical regardless of where you apply), 5% VAT, a service or processing charge that varies by provider, and optional add-ons such as insurance, express processing, or a refundable security deposit for the five-year visa. Passport Nationality vs Country of Residence

These two things get conflated constantly, and it is worth being explicit. Your passport nationality normally determines your main UAE entry category. Your country of residence can affect which application channel you use and, for a limited set of nationalities, whether you qualify for the conditional visa-on-arrival route — but living somewhere visa-free does not make your own passport visa-free.

What If You Hold a Refugee or Travel Document?

Refugee travel documents, stateless-person documents, and other non-standard travel documents are not treated the same as an ordinary national passport for UAE entry purposes. Visa-free treatment that applies to a country's ordinary passport does not automatically extend to a travel document issued by or on behalf of that country. Airline and immigration confirmation is typically required before travel, and sponsor review may apply.
