On 25 June 2026, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) announced an expansion of the conditional visa-on-arrival programme to nationals of six additional countries: Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya, and South Africa. This mirrors the long-running Indian VOA scheme described above.

Passport holders from these six countries — plus their accompanying family members — can qualify for a UAE visa on arrival if they also hold a valid residence permit issued by the United States, an EU member state, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada.

An overstay fine of AED 50 per day applies beyond the permitted period. This means a national of one of these six countries who holds a valid Japanese residence permit — a work visa, spouse visa, or similar long-term status — can now obtain UAE entry at the airport rather than applying for a visa in advance, provided the Japan-issued permit is valid at the time of arrival.
