Algerian citizens need a UAE visa issued before they travel, because immigration in Dubai, or in any other emirate, cannot issue one to an ordinary Algerian passport on arrival. Most trips use a 30-day tourist e-visa or its 60-day equivalent, requested online and sent to you by email, with no visit to a UAE mission required. The past year has added two practical complications for Algerians, a break in diplomatic relations and suspended direct flights; both are covered here with documents, payment and rules for Algerians in France or the UAE.
Why an Algerian Passport Needs a UAE Visa in Advance
Algeria appears on neither the 30-day nor the 90-day list of nationalities that receive a visit visa at UAE passport control. A French residence card, a Schengen visa or a US visa does not change that. The UAE offers arrival entry based on those documents to Indian nationals and a small group of Asian and African nationalities only, and Algerians are not included.
Algeria and the UAE: What Current Relations Mean for Algerian Visitors
On 10 September 2026, Algeria announced that it was cutting diplomatic relations with the UAE, and from 11 September it closed its airspace to UAE-registered aircraft. In response, the UAE's foreign ministry said it hoped the decision would be temporary and expressed appreciation for the Algerian community living in the UAE and for Algerian visitors.
No change to UAE visa rules for Algerian citizens has been announced, and our team continues to accept Algerian applications through the usual online route. The situation is still developing, so confirm the latest position before paying for flights, and leave generous time between applying and flying.
Travelling From Algeria to Dubai Without a Direct Flight
Nonstop services between Algiers and Dubai stopped when regional airspace closed on 28 February 2026. Air Algérie has kept its Dubai route suspended until further notice, and Emirates last flew to Algiers in March 2026. Algeria's airspace decision exempts UAE commercial flights to Algiers until 31 December 2026, yet none were operating at the end of September.
For now, the practical answer is a connection through a third hub. Air Algérie restarted its Doha flights on 29 September 2026, and Istanbul is another possible transfer option. Keep the whole journey on one ticket where you can, so the airline handles rebooking if a connection is missed, and check the hub's transit rules for Algerian passports. When nonstop flights return, the direct journey takes roughly six hours and 45 minutes. Dubai runs three hours ahead of Algeria in every season.
Choosing a Dubai Visa for an Algerian Trip
Each visa card lists its current price, and the checkout total is the full charge. Payment is by card in US dollars. Algeria's domestic CIB and Edahabia cards are designed mainly for payments inside the country, so make sure you have a card that accepts international online payments before you begin.
Documents for an Algerian Tourist Visa File
- A clear colour copy of the passport's personal-details page. The passport needs a remaining life of six months or longer on your landing date, in line with the UAE government's entry guidance.
- A recent passport-style photo against plain white, with your face uncovered.

Algerian passports print your name in both Arabic and Latin script. Enter the Latin version character for character, including every part of a compound surname, because the form and the passport must match exactly. Algerians in France Applying for a Dubai Visa
An Algerian citizen based in Paris, Lyon or Marseille applies exactly as a resident of Algiers or Oran would: Algeria as nationality, France as country of residence. The French titre de séjour does not add arrival entry to an Algerian passport, but it does let you depart from France, which currently has far more connections to Dubai than Algeria does. A French bank card works for payment, with your bank converting the dollar amount into euros.
Dual French-Algerian nationals have a simpler route. French passport holders are admitted with a free 90-day visit visa, so nothing needs applying for if you travel on it. Hold the booking in the French passport's name and number, and present that passport throughout the trip.
Algerian Residents of the UAE and Visiting Relatives
Nothing announced so far changes the status of Algerians living in the UAE. Parents, siblings or friends coming from Algeria can apply for a tourist visa in their own name here, with no UAE sponsor needed. List each person on the form before payment, upload a passport copy and photo for everyone, and make sure each child holds a passport of their own. At passport control, hand over your Algerian passport with the e-visa ready to show. The officer checks that the e-visa matches your passport, and your permitted stay counts from the arrival date. One visa covers every emirate, so side trips to Abu Dhabi or Fujairah involve no extra formalities. Keep the address where you will stay to hand, and remember that the final decision on entry rests with the officer.
Algerian Business Travellers and Job Offers
The 14-day business visa covers Algerian executives attending exhibitions, negotiating with suppliers or meeting partners in Dubai. Carry the invitation or registration, since immigration may ask why you are visiting. Accepting employment is a separate process: the UAE employer obtains the work permit and residence, and doing paid work on a tourist or business visa can bring fines and future entry refusals.
Changing Planes in Dubai on an Algerian Passport
Algerians continuing to Asia or East Africa through Dubai need nothing extra while they stay in the transit zone. Leaving the airport requires a transit visa, either the 48-hour type or the 96-hour UAE transit visa, plus a booked flight on to a third country. Extensions and Overstay Rules for Algerian Visitors
Should a visit need more time, raise it with us before the visa expires. Some visitors can add a 60-day extension from inside the UAE; eligibility depends on the visa they entered with.

Refusals often come down to correctable problems: a scan that cannot be read, a spelling that differs from the passport, or an old UAE matter left unresolved.
