Most Filipinos must secure a UAE tourist visa before boarding a flight to Dubai. Since June 2026 there has been one important exception: a Philippine passport holder who also has a valid residence permit from the United States, the UK, an EU country, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea or Singapore can get an arrival visa valid for 14 or 60 days through the UAE's residence-based arrival route. Everyone else, including most travellers flying from Manila, applies online for an e-visa, with no embassy visit, which is emailed once approved. In both cases the passport should still have six months left on the day you land.
Filipinos With Foreign Residence: The 14-Day and 60-Day Arrival Visas
The route was announced on 25 June 2026 in the UAE foreign ministry's visa-on-arrival statement for six nationalities. It covers ordinary Philippine passports, and relatives travelling with an eligible person can use it if they meet the same conditions.

Bring the physical residence card or permit that makes you eligible, and confirm it will still be valid on the day you land. A card that lapses mid-journey leaves you without the route at the airport.
Filipinos Abroad Whose Residence Does Not Qualify
Plenty of Filipinos live in places outside the nine on that list. A domestic worker in Hong Kong, for instance, cannot use residence there to enter the UAE on arrival and needs a pre-arranged tourist visa. Filipinos resident elsewhere in the Gulf may instead fit the GCC-resident e-visa, provided their profession and residence meet its conditions.
Filipino Green Card and US Visa Holders: Check the Exact Document
A Filipino with a US green card or other US residence permit fits the arrival route. Holders of a US tourist or business visa only are in a less clear position. The June announcement refers to residence permits, while the UAE immigration authority's service listing also mentions US, UK and EU visas. Until the two line up, a visit visa alone is not something to stake a trip on, so a pre-arranged tourist visa is the safer choice for that group.
Residence elsewhere on the list works the same way. A Filipino nurse in Britain on a Health and Care Worker visa holds UK residence, and a permanent resident of Canada or Australia holds residence there, so both can use the arrival route if their permits are valid.
Picking a UAE Tourist Visa as a Filipino Traveller
Without qualifying residence abroad, the choice comes down to how long you will stay and if your plans include crossing a border and returning:

- A readable colour copy of the passport's data page.
- A passport-style photo taken against white.
- A booked flight out of the UAE, either home or onward.
- Health cover that is accepted in the UAE for the full stay; checkout shows whether the price already includes it.
Enter your name exactly as printed in the passport, including your middle name, since Filipino names often have several parts that are easy to shorten by mistake. If you changed your surname after marriage, use the name shown on the passport you will actually travel with. Before anything is lodged, one of our consultants checks the file.
Adult Philippine passports are issued for ten years and children's for five, so look at every family member's expiry date before booking, not only your own.
Philippine Immigration Checks Before Leaving Manila
Getting the UAE visa is only half the departure process. Philippine immigration expects outbound tourists to show a valid passport, the visa for their destination and a return or round-trip ticket, and officers may question travellers further about where they are going and why. Register on the free eTravel system within the 72 hours before your flight leaves.
If a relative or friend abroad is paying for the trip, you may be asked for an Affidavit of Support and Undertaking authenticated by a Philippine embassy or consulate. For a sponsor in the UAE, that means the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General in Dubai, so arrange it well before departure. Check too whether the Philippine travel tax has been included in your ticket.
Visiting Filipino Family Working in the UAE
Many visitors from the Philippines are going to see a parent, child or partner working in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah. Your relative's residence does not give you a visa, but you can hold a tourist visa in your own name, without any UAE sponsor. Have the host's address and mobile number ready for the immigration desk. Children travelling without a parent, or with an adult who is not their parent, usually need a travel clearance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development before Philippine immigration will let them depart, so apply for it early. If the plan is for a spouse or child to settle in the UAE, the resident needs the UAE family residence route instead.
Flights From the Philippines to Dubai
Emirates, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific all fly nonstop from Manila to Dubai, with a flight time of about nine hours and 15 minutes. There is currently no nonstop service from Cebu, so travellers from the Visayas and Mindanao usually connect through Manila. Dubai is four hours behind the Philippines all year, which means an evening departure from Manila lands in Dubai the same night.
Landing at DXB With a Philippine Passport
Travellers using the arrival route should go to passport control with the Philippine passport and the original residence card, and the officer issues the arrival visa there, for 14 or 60 days. Those holding an e-visa show the approval on paper or on their phone. Either way, keep your return booking and accommodation details close, because the officer decides on entry and may ask about your plans.
Filipino Travellers, Tourist Visas and Work in Dubai
A UAE tourist visa does not allow paid work, and Philippine immigration officers screen departing tourists for signs that they intend to work abroad. Filipinos taking up a job in the UAE go through the employer's work permit and the Department of Migrant Workers' deployment process instead. Recruiters who suggest flying out as a tourist and sorting the job paperwork later risk you being stopped at Manila airport. Timing a Philippine Passport Holder's Application
Submit once your dates are set. Estimated processing appears against each visa, and the express Dubai visa option exists for short-notice trips. Payment triggers an email containing your reference; enter it on the Dubai visa status checker, then keep both a digital and a printed copy of the approved e-visa for check-in at NAIA.
Transit Through Dubai on a Philippine Passport
Filipinos changing planes in Dubai for Europe or Africa need nothing from UAE immigration while they remain airside. To go into the city during a long layover, apply for a short transit visa, with the four-day UAE transit option giving the most time, and hold a booked onward flight to another country.
Extending a Stay as a Filipino Visitor in the UAE
The rules differ by route. The 14-day arrival visa can be extended once, the 60-day arrival visa cannot, and tourist-visa holders may qualify for a 30-day extension inside the UAE, subject to their entry status. Ask before your permitted stay ends; an extension of the 14-day arrival visa is requested from inside the country.
