Dubai Visa for Singapore Passport Holders: 90 Days Free

A Singapore passport is all you need to enter Dubai, so there is no Dubai visa for Singaporeans to arrange before an ordinary trip. The UAE admits Singapore citizens visa-free for 90 days in total over any rolling 180-day window, and nothing has to be filled in before the flight. What deserves attention is counting those days, the rule on single-name passports, controlled medicines, and companions who travel on other passports. Foreign nationals who live in Singapore follow different rules, covered in our guide for foreign residents of Singapore travelling to Dubai.

Do Singaporeans Need a Visa for Dubai?

Ordinary visits need none. Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs tells citizens they may stay 90 days out of every 180 in the UAE with no visa, and Singapore is listed in the UAE government's register of visa-exempt nationalities. Holidaymakers, relatives on family trips and people attending business meetings therefore need no Dubai tourist visa, Dubai travel visa or Dubai entry visa; the immigration officer records your arrival.

When people talk about a Singapore to Dubai visa, they usually mean something else: a visa for a companion with a different passport, a stay running beyond the 90-day allowance, or a residence and work route in the Emirates.

Single-Name Singapore Passports and Other Entry Checks

  • Make sure the passport still has six months or more before expiry on arrival.
  • Singapore's foreign ministry warns that a passport showing just one name can lead to refusal at UAE immigration, so talk to us before flying if yours is printed that way.
  • Controlled medicines need approval before travel, requested online from the Emirates Drug Establishment; carry the prescription and keep tablets in their labelled packs. Our list of goods restricted at Dubai airport covers other items to leave behind.
  • Show the same passport at Changi check-in, at UAE immigration and when you leave.

Renewing a Singapore Passport Before Flying

Singapore passports are renewed through the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority, which accepts applications online. If the six-month margin will be tight on your arrival date, renew first; children travel on passports of their own and need the same margin.

Dubai 48-Hour Transit From Singapore: Is an E-Visa Needed?

Leaving from Changi, a Singapore passport holder needs no Dubai e-visa to transit 48 hours or more in the city. The visa-free allowance covers a stopover just as it covers a holiday, so on a journey to London, Paris or Cairo you may pass immigration, stay over in Dubai for a couple of nights and fly on. Nights in the city are deducted from the same 90-day total, while a passenger who never leaves the transit area makes no UAE entry at all.

For a companion whose passport does require a visa, the position changes: a two-day UAE transit permit or a stopover visa covering 96 hours has to be approved before the first flight leaves Singapore.

Counting 90 Days in 180 on a Singapore Passport

The allowance is a running total, not a fresh 90 days with each landing. A consultant spending three weeks of every month in Dubai can exhaust it in under five months, regular weekends at home notwithstanding. Note every entry and exit date in your calendar, particularly if a regional role also takes you to Qatar or Saudi Arabia. As an example, a traveller who spends 30 days in Dubai in March and 40 days in May has only about 20 days left when returning in early July, until the March days drop out of the 180-day window.

Once the allowance has been spent, Emirates' published guidance says a pre-arranged visit visa can follow, and our team can check which product suits your dates, for example the single-entry visa for two months. Because the allowance permits repeated entries, a weekend in Doha followed by a return to Dubai is fine on a Singapore passport; only the day count matters. Staying on without the right status adds AED 50 for every day over, with no grace period from day one; our guide to UAE overstay fines shows how it adds up.

Family and Colleagues From Singapore on Other Passports

Singapore households and project teams often mix nationalities, and each document follows its own UAE rule:

PassportUAE entry
SingaporeNo visa, 90 days within 180
South KoreaVisa-free; see our notes for South Korean travellers
JapanVisa-free; read our guidance for Japanese passport holders
TaiwanVisa needed in advance, as explained for Taiwanese travellers
Other nationalities resident in SingaporeDepends on the passport; some qualify for an airport visa through Singapore residence

Families who bring a helper from the Philippines, Indonesia or Myanmar should check the helper's own passport rule before booking. Anyone in that last row looking for a Dubai visa from Singapore should start with our foreign-residents guide, which covers the airport visa certain nationalities receive through Singapore residence. Where a companion needs a full Dubai visit visa, the single-entry visa valid for a month suits most trips, with each card listing a handling time no longer than four working days. The Dubai visit visa requirements for that companion are short: a colour passport scan, a recent photo, flight details, accommodation and travel insurance valid in the UAE.

Flights From Singapore Changi to Dubai

Emirates operates several nonstop departures a day between Changi and Dubai, a flight of roughly seven and a half hours, and Etihad flies daily from Singapore to Abu Dhabi, where the same visa-free entry applies. Other carriers connect through Gulf and Asian hubs. Singapore passport holders join the general arrivals queue in Dubai, and the officer records the entry on the spot. Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah are part of the same country, so driving between them uses no extra entry.

Dubai Is Four Hours Behind Singapore

Singapore sits at UTC+8 and Dubai at UTC+4 in every season, so 9am in Singapore is 5am in Dubai. Changi's late-evening flights touch down before dawn, and that date counts as your first day in the UAE.

Singapore Dollars and Dirhams

Dirhams are pegged to the US dollar, so the Singapore dollar rate tracks the USD exchange rate. Contactless cards work across Dubai, and ATMs at the airport dispense local cash.

Travel Insurance for Singaporeans Visiting the UAE

Visa-free entry carries no insurance requirement, yet medical treatment in Dubai is expensive for visitors. A policy covering hospital care in the Emirates is sensible, and our guide to UAE visitor insurance explains what such cover includes.

Planning a Dubai Trip From Singapore Around the Seasons

Most Singaporean holidaymakers visit between November and March, when daytime heat in Dubai eases; the summer months are far hotter than Singapore. Hotel rates climb during the cooler season and around major events, so book rooms early, even though no visa paperwork stands in the way.

Business Trips and Work for Singaporeans in the UAE

Client meetings, site visits, conferences and exhibitions all fit within visa-free entry, so Singaporean executives rarely need a business visa. Companies from Singapore exhibit at shows such as GITEX and Arab Health in Dubai and ADIPEC in Abu Dhabi, all of which a Singapore passport covers. Paid employment is another matter: the UAE employer must arrange your employment permit plus residency before the first working day, as our explainer covering the UAE work permit process sets out.

Singaporeans already living in the Emirates come in on their UAE residence status rather than the visitor allowance. Parents and friends coming from Singapore to see them need no visa on a Singapore passport, while a spouse or children relocating permanently follow the sponsorship route described in our family residence rules for Dubai.

Singapore Embassy, Consulate and eRegister

Singapore's embassy sits in Al Manhal, Abu Dhabi, with a second office, the Consulate-General, located in Dubai's Al Satwa district; both help citizens with lost passports and emergencies. If a passport goes missing, the mission can issue a Document of Identity for the journey home, so keep a scan of your photo page in your email. The foreign ministry's duty office in Singapore answers around the clock on +65 6379 8800, and eRegistering your trip lets the ministry reach you if something happens while you are away.

When Singaporeans Use Our Visa Service

A normal trip on a Singapore passport needs nothing from us, and our advisers will tell you that plainly. Where we do help:

  • a spouse, parent or colleague whose passport requires a visa;
  • a stay that will go beyond the 90-day allowance;
  • a stopover in Dubai for someone without visa-free status;
  • a helper or relative living in Singapore on another nationality's passport.

Anyone arranging an online Dubai visa application from Singapore for someone else picks the visa, uploads their passport scan and photo, and pays by card; the approval arrives by email. Ask our visa team about your group, or apply online for a companion's Dubai visa. Our WhatsApp advisers answer day and night, useful because Dubai's working day starts four hours after Singapore's.
