An ordinary Zimbabwean passport cannot be stamped in on arrival in the UAE, so Zimbabweans travelling to Dubai must have their visa granted in advance. The application is made online, the decision comes back as an e-visa in your inbox, and no embassy visit is involved. For a typical holiday or family visit, you choose a visa by length of stay and number of entries, then upload the core documents for a UAE tourist visa.
How Much a Dubai Visa Costs a Zimbabwean Traveller
The price depends on three things: how many days you need, whether the trip includes a crossing into a neighbouring country and back, and the processing speed you pick. The visa cards here carry today's prices, and nothing is added once you reach checkout.
Buying more days or entries than the trip needs adds cost without improving your chances of approval. Business travellers attending meetings or an exhibition can use the two-week UAE business visa instead.
Paying for a Dubai Visa From Zimbabwe
Amounts are quoted in US dollars. If your card draws on a US dollar account, there is nothing to convert; a card in ZiG or rand is converted at whatever rate your bank applies. Some Zimbabwean cards are restricted to local transactions, so confirm with your bank that online payments abroad are switched on before starting the form.
Why a Zimbabwean Passport Needs the Visa First
On the UAE foreign ministry's visa exemption list by nationality, Zimbabwe appears as "visa required", and it is missing from both UAE arrival-visa lists, the 30-day one and the 90-day one. Check-in staff are likely to ask to see the approved visa before issuing a boarding pass. Holders of Zimbabwean diplomatic or official passports should confirm the rule for that document separately.
Documents a Zimbabwean Applicant Uploads
- A clear colour scan of the passport's information page. The passport needs six or more months left on it on the day you land. Scan it flat in good light, showing all four corners.
- A recent photograph with a plain white background; our UAE visa photo guide sets out the specifications.
- A return or onward ticket, which the tourist route lists as a condition.
- Medical insurance valid in the UAE for the visa period. Check at checkout whether it is included in the price shown.
Other documents, such as bank statements or a host's details, are requested only in particular cases, not from every applicant. Type your names exactly as the passport shows them, including middle names, and a consultant will review the file before it is submitted. If you are staying with a relative who lives in the UAE, keep their full name, address and phone number handy for the trip.
Passport renewals in Zimbabwe can take a while, so if yours is close to the six-month limit, start the renewal before booking anything. A visa is issued against one passport number and cannot be moved to a replacement book.
Flights From Zimbabwe to Dubai via Lusaka and Other Hubs
There is no nonstop service between Zimbabwe and the UAE. Emirates flies Harare to Dubai with a stop in Lusaka, and other airlines connect through hubs such as Nairobi, Addis Ababa or Johannesburg. Time in the air starts at around seven hours and 45 minutes, before any connection time. Dubai is two hours ahead of Zimbabwe throughout the year, as neither country changes its clocks.
When booking, make sure the itinerary ends with a return or onward flight, since that booking forms part of your visa file. Keep the name on the ticket identical to the passport.
Dubai Visas for Zimbabweans Living in South Africa
A Zimbabwean citizen working in Johannesburg or Cape Town applies with Zimbabwe as nationality and South Africa as country of residence. South African residence does not give a Zimbabwean passport arrival entry. The special UAE route announced in June 2026 covers South African citizens with certain foreign residence permits, not Zimbabweans living in South Africa.
Johannesburg is the easiest departure point for many in this group: Emirates flies nonstop from OR Tambo to Dubai in a little over eight hours, with two departures on most days. Paying with a South African card is straightforward, with the bank converting from rand.
UK-Based Zimbabwean Passport Holders and the Dubai Visa
The same principle applies in Britain. A Zimbabwean living in Leicester, Luton or London on settled status or a work visa still needs a UAE visa approved before travel, because UK residence does not create an arrival route for Zimbabwean nationals. When you apply, Zimbabwe goes in the nationality field and the UK in the residence field.
Holding British citizenship as well changes things. British citizens are given a visit visa at the airport at no charge, as our guide for British passport holders flying to Dubai explains, so travel on the British passport and use its number on the airline booking.
Timing a Zimbabwean Application
Each visa shows its own processing estimate, so submit once flights and dates are settled and leave some margin before departure. You receive an application ID by email after payment; enter it on the visa status checker to see progress, and download the approved e-visa when it arrives. Approval emails sometimes land in spam, so check there if nothing arrives.
Arriving at Dubai International From Zimbabwe
At the immigration desk, present your Zimbabwean passport along with the e-visa on paper or on your phone. Have your return booking and accommodation address ready, since the officer may ask about your plans; admission is always at the officer's discretion. Your permitted stay begins on the day you enter, not the day the visa was issued.
Changing Planes in Dubai on a Zimbabwean Passport
Zimbabweans flying on to Asia, Europe or the Americas through Dubai need no UAE visa if they stay in the transit area. To step outside during the stopover, you need a UAE transit visa: the 48-hour transit option or its 96-hour counterpart, plus a booked flight to a different country from the one you started in. Both cover a single entry, with no extension.
Job Offers and Work Visas for Zimbabweans in Dubai
Paid work is off-limits on a tourist visa. A UAE employer handles sponsorship of the employment permit and residency once you have accepted a written offer. Zimbabwean Families Applying for Dubai Visas Together
A whole household can go on one application: add each person before you pay and upload a separate passport copy and photo for them. Each child must hold a separate Zimbabwean passport. Once the visas are approved, compare every name and passport number with the documents your family will carry.
Extensions and Overstay Fines for Zimbabwean Visitors

Since 11 February 2026, overstaying has been charged from the very first extra day, at AED 50 per day, and the total is settled at the airport on departure. Read UAE overstay charges explained if your departure might slip.
If a Zimbabwean Application Is Not Approved
Most refusals follow a correctable problem, such as a blurry upload, a spelling that does not match the passport, or an earlier UAE immigration issue left unresolved. A clean immigration record matters more than any document you upload. An unpaid overstay fine, a residence visa that was never cancelled after a job ended, or an open case from a previous stay can stop a new visa or lead to refusal at the airport.
