Albanian Passport, No Visa Needed: Your 90 Days in the UAE
Albanian citizens do not need to apply for a UAE visa before a trip to Dubai. An ordinary Albanian passport is among the passports that receive a UAE arrival visa, so immigration issues a multiple-entry visit visa when you land, usable for six months after it is issued and allowing a total stay of 90 days. The passport itself must be valid for six months or more on the date you arrive. Where our team does help Albanian families is with the cases that fall outside that rule: relatives on other passports, stays running past 90 days, and questions about work.
What Albanian Passport Holders Receive at Dubai Immigration
There is no form to fill in, no approval email and nothing to print before you leave Tirana airport. At passport control in Dubai, the officer checks your Albanian passport and issues the visit visa. From that moment it covers all seven emirates, so an excursion to Abu Dhabi or a weekend in Ras Al Khaimah needs no further paperwork.
Entry is still at the officer's discretion, as it is for every nationality. Keep the address of your hotel or host and your return or onward booking on your phone, since you may be asked where you are staying and when you leave.
Counting the 90 Days on an Albanian Passport
The Albanian arrival visa is multiple entry, but the 90 days are a total, not a fresh allowance on every arrival. Across the six-month validity, all your days inside the UAE add up towards the same 90.
| Example trip pattern | Days used | Days left |
|---|---|---|
| One 21-day holiday in Dubai | 21 | 69 |
| Three 10-day business visits in the same half-year | 30 | 60 |
| A 60-day family stay, then a 25-day return visit | 85 | 5 |
Keep a note of your entry and exit dates, especially if you travel elsewhere in the region and come back. Days spent outside the UAE do not count towards the 90-day total. For Albanians with family working in Dubai who visit several times a year, the total can fill faster than expected.
Albanian Passport Checks Before You Book
Because nothing is approved in advance, the passport does all the work, so check it before paying for flights:
- Validity of six months or more on your arrival date, the minimum listed on the UAE government portal.
- No damage to the data page or chip; a torn or water-stained passport can be refused at check-in.
- Your name on the airline booking matching the passport exactly.
Recently renewed your passport? Simply travel on the new one. With no visa issued beforehand, there is no old passport number to reconcile.
Albanians Living in the UK or Germany Get the Same Stamp
A large Albanian community lives in Britain and Germany, and the entry rule follows the passport, not the country you fly from. An Albanian citizen resident in London, Munich or Düsseldorf receives the same 90-day arrival visa as someone flying from Tirana. A UK or German residence permit adds nothing and takes nothing away.
Dual nationals have a choice. British and German passports are also on the 90-day arrival list, so you can travel on either one. Pick a single passport for the whole journey, from the airline booking to check-in and both immigration desks, so the records match. Family members from Kosovo are covered too, because Kosovo passports sit on the same 90-day list.
Entry details for the other passport are covered separately for UK citizens travelling to the UAE and for German passport holders.
When an Albanian Household Still Needs a Dubai Visa
Visa-free status belongs to each passport, not to the family. Mixed-nationality households are where a visa is most often needed: a spouse from a country outside the arrival lists, a child holding only another nationality, or a grandparent joining the trip from abroad. Those travellers need a visa approved before they fly, based on their own passport.
- The 30-day tourist visa with a single entry suits most holidays and family visits.
- For a trip that leaves the UAE and comes back, look at the 30-day multiple-entry option.
- A two-month single-entry visa suits a longer stay alongside Albanian relatives.
Foreign nationals who live in Albania on a residence permit are in the same position. Their permit does not change UAE entry; their own passport does. Every traveller who needs a visa can go on the same application, entered before you pay, a consultant checks each file before submission, and approved visas are emailed to the applicant. Relatives can follow progress on the visa application tracker using the ID emailed after payment. Photographing them at home? Read the UAE photo specifications first.
Staying Past 90 Days as an Albanian Visitor
Plans change, particularly on long family visits. If you expect to exceed your 90 days, contact our visa support team well before the total runs out. Whether an extension filed from inside the UAE is possible depends on how you entered and your current status, so the answer is individual rather than automatic.
What is not flexible is the overstay penalty. From 11 February 2026, each extra day in the country after the permitted stay draws an AED 50 fine, with the count starting on day one and no grace days. The fine has to be settled before you can leave, and a history of overstaying can cause problems on later visits. Our UAE overstay fine guide shows how to check one.
Albanian Business Visitors at Meetings and Trade Fairs
Albanian exporters, tourism operators and tech firms often come to Dubai for meetings or for large exhibitions held in the city through the year. The 90-day arrival visa covers that kind of visit, so there is no need to buy a separate business visa. Carry your event registration or meeting details in case the officer asks about the purpose of the trip. Anything that turns into hands-on project work for a UAE client is a different matter and needs the proper permit, even if the stay is short.
Taking a Job in the UAE as an Albanian Citizen
The arrival visa is a visit visa. It suits holidays, family visits and short trips for meetings, trade fairs or conferences, but it does not permit paid employment. An Albanian offered a job in the UAE must be sponsored by the employer for an employment visa, which leads on to residence.
Taking up work while on a visit visa can lead to fines and future entry problems, so the order matters: job offer, employer-led permit, then residence. The UAE work permit process is explained step by step on our blog.
Flights From Albania: Tirana to Dubai
flydubai operates the one nonstop service between Tirana International Airport and Dubai, with an average flying time of about five hours and twenty-five minutes, and its midday departures land in Dubai in the evening. Albania runs on Central European Time, so Dubai is three hours ahead in winter and two hours ahead while Albania is on summer time. Itineraries connecting through other hubs work the same way for entry purposes.
Tirana's airport is also known as Nënë Tereza, or Mother Teresa, International. At check-in there, airline staff look at your passport's expiry date because of the six-month rule. Children need their own valid Albanian passports and receive their own arrival visa.
Transit Through Dubai on an Albanian Passport
Albanians changing planes in Dubai on the way to Asia or Australia do not need a transit visa. Staying airside needs nothing at all, and if you want to leave the airport during a long layover, the same arrival visa is issued at passport control. Those days count towards your 90-day total like any other visit.
Previous UAE Issues Can Still Affect Albanian Travellers
Visa-free entry does not override an immigration record. If you overstayed on an earlier trip, left a residence visa uncancelled after a job ended, or have an unresolved fine, the officer can refuse entry even though your passport is on the arrival list. Settle any old matter before travelling rather than finding out at the desk. A travel ban or absconding case registered in the UAE stays in force whichever passport you carry.
Relatives with a past refusal on a tourist visa application should fix the underlying issue first. Our list of typical reasons tourist visas are declined helps them do that before reapplying.
How the Dubai Visitor Visa Team Helps Albanian Families
For your own trip on an Albanian passport, there is nothing to buy. We are useful when someone in your group needs a visa, when a stay may run past 90 days, or when you are unsure how an earlier UAE record affects you. Message our visa support team with each traveller's nationality and plans, and we will tell you what, if anything, needs arranging. Our WhatsApp line is staffed day and night, weekends and holidays included. If a relative's application is refused, our refund terms explain that no fees come back in that case.
