Uzbekistan to Dubai: Visa-Free Entry for Uzbek Passports

Citizens of Uzbekistan no longer need to arrange anything before flying to Dubai. Under a reciprocal agreement between Tashkent and Abu Dhabi, an Uzbek passport is admitted visa-free for as long as 30 days, with no form to submit and no fee to pay. Older guides that still tell Uzbek travellers to buy a tourist visa first are out of date. For background on how entry granted at the airport works across nationalities, see our explainer on UAE arrival entry.

Uzbekistan Passport Holders Enter the UAE Visa-Free for 30 Days

Uzbekistan is listed as visa-free in the nationality table on the website of the UAE's foreign affairs ministry, and Emirates and flydubai both include it among the nationalities receiving 30 days on arrival. The exemption covers tourism, family visits and short business trips, and it works at every UAE airport, so arriving in Sharjah or Abu Dhabi is no different from landing at Dubai International.

Three things should travel with you: an Uzbek passport whose expiry date falls at least six months past your arrival, an onward or return booking dated inside the 30 days, and the name and address of your accommodation. The officer at passport control has the final say, and calm, clear answers about why you are visiting make the process quick.

Why Some Guides Still Say Uzbeks Need a Visa

For years Uzbek citizens did need a visa arranged in advance, and many travel sites built their pages around that rule. The two governments then signed a mutual exemption that took effect in mid-February: Uzbeks enter the UAE visa-free for up to 30 days, and Emirati citizens enjoy the same 30 days in Uzbekistan. Any page still quoting visa prices for an ordinary Uzbek holiday is describing the old system.

Travel on the Uzbek Passport, Not the ID Card

The biometric ID card that Uzbek citizens use at home will not get you into the UAE. Fly on your passport, make sure the airline booking shows the passport's spelling of your name, and keep the same document for the return journey. Each child needs a passport too, and children receive the same 30-day allowance as their parents.

Staying in Dubai Longer Than 30 Days on an Uzbek Passport

Thirty days pass quickly when parents come to stay with children working in the Emirates. Count from the date stamped on arrival, not from the day you left Tashkent, and plan the return flight inside that limit. Each day spent beyond it adds AED 50 to a fine, beginning with the very first, and nobody can fly out until the total is paid; see how overstay fines in the Emirates work for the details.

If you already know the visit will exceed a month, speak to us before booking. A two-month UAE tourist visa for one stay, issued before travel, may suit a long family visit, and we will tell you plainly when the free 30 days are enough.

Flights From Tashkent, Samarkand and Namangan to Dubai and Sharjah

flydubai links Dubai with Tashkent, Samarkand and Namangan, Uzbekistan Airways flies between Tashkent and Dubai, and Air Arabia serves Sharjah, about half an hour's drive from central Dubai in light traffic. Flying time is roughly three and a half hours, and many services leave Uzbekistan late at night or before dawn, arriving in the UAE early in the morning.

Departures from the capital use Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport, while Samarkand and Namangan have their own international terminals. Travellers from Bukhara, Fergana or Urgench usually connect through Tashkent. Booking every leg on one ticket protects you if a domestic flight is delayed.

Uzbekistan and Dubai Time Difference

Uzbekistan keeps UTC+5 in every season, an hour later than the UAE's clocks. A flight that leaves Tashkent at 4am therefore lands in Dubai not long after 6am local time, and the arrival date is the first of your 30 days.

Paying in Dubai With Uzbek Cards and Cash

Prices in the Emirates are in dirhams. Cards on the domestic Humo and Uzcard systems are built for use inside Uzbekistan, so ask your bank if yours works abroad, or carry an internationally branded Visa or Mastercard alongside some US dollars to exchange on arrival.

Uzbeks Living in the US, Korea or Russia

The exemption depends on citizenship, not on where you live. Uzbeks settled in Brooklyn, Seoul or Moscow who fly to Dubai on their Uzbek passports receive the same 30 days as travellers departing Tashkent. Residence status in the United States or anywhere else neither helps nor hurts, and no separate application is needed from abroad. Uzbekistan Airways also flies between New York and Tashkent, so some US-based families visit relatives at home before continuing to Dubai.

Mixed Central Asian Families: Who Still Needs a UAE Visa

Because the rule attaches to each passport, relatives booked on the same flight may enter on different terms:

TravellerUAE entry
Uzbek passport holderVisa-free for up to 30 days
Kazakh passport holderAlso visa-free for 30 days, as covered for Kazakhstan citizens
Kyrgyz passport holderVisa needed before travel; see our page for travellers from Kyrgyzstan
Tajik passport holderVisa needed before travel, explained for Tajikistan nationals
Any other visa-required nationalityAn e-visa, for example a 30-day UAE visa allowing one entry

A relative needing a visa supplies a passport data-page scan, a recent portrait and the planned flights, itemised in our document checklist for UAE visit visas. Progress appears on the online status tracker, and the express processing option helps when departure is only days away.

Uzbek Workers and Job Offers in the UAE

Visa-free entry is for visits only. Many Uzbeks build careers in the Emirates, but lawful employment starts with the employer securing a work permit and residence visa, as described in our overview of the UAE work permit process. Be wary of intermediaries who suggest flying in on the 30-day exemption to look for work; officers may refuse entry when a trip looks like a job search, and taking paid work without a permit brings fines and future bans. UAE labour rules also put recruitment costs on the employer, so a genuine job offer should never come with a demand that you pay a placement fee.

Uzbek Students Planning to Study in the UAE

A university place in Dubai or Sharjah calls for a residence permit for students, which the university itself sponsors, not the 30-day exemption. Campus tours and admission interviews fit the free entry, but enrolment follows a separate process, which our guide to student visa requirements in the UAE walks through step by step.

Sourcing Trips to Dubai for Uzbek Traders

Dubai supplies a good share of the electronics, textiles and household goods sold in Tashkent's bazaars, and the 30-day exemption covers meetings with suppliers and visits to trade fairs. Cash matters on these trips: banknotes worth over AED 60,000 have to be declared at customs on landing. Some medicines and other goods are restricted, so read our list of items Dubai airport customs controls before packing for the journey home as well as the outward flight. Keep supplier invoices together too, because goods shipped back are cleared by Uzbek customs on arrival.

Uzbekistan Embassy and Consular Help for Residents in the UAE

The Uzbek embassy sits in Abu Dhabi, with a consulate general in Dubai, both assisting citizens with passports, lost documents and emergencies. Uzbek residents inviting parents or siblings can simply ask them to book flights, since visitors on Uzbek passports need no sponsor. A husband, wife or child relocating to the Emirates for good needs a residence visa through the family member already living there, outlined in our page on family residence visas in Dubai.

Travelling From Dubai to Uzbekistan: Visa-Free Rule for UAE Residents

Plenty of readers are heading in the reverse direction, from the Emirates to Samarkand or Bukhara. Emirati citizens enter Uzbekistan visa-free for 30 days under the same agreement. Foreign nationals living in the UAE also receive 30 days without a visa, according to Uzbekistan's embassy in Abu Dhabi, provided the original UAE residence visa is valid for at least 90 days at entry and the national passport for at least 180 days. Holders of travel documents or refugee passports must apply for a visa instead. These rules are set by Uzbekistan, and we do not issue Uzbek visas. The same flydubai and Uzbekistan Airways services operate in both directions, which makes a combined Dubai and Silk Road itinerary simple to plan.

Contacting Dubai Visitor Visa With an Uzbek Passport Question
