UAE Visit Visa for Venezuelans: Passports, Flights, Payment
Venezuelan citizens need a UAE visit visa issued before they board any flight to Dubai, and the whole request is handled online, with the approved e-visa sent by email. Our article on how the Dubai e-visa works covers the basics. For Venezuelans, two questions usually come before the visa itself: whether the passport has enough validity left, and which passport to travel on when the family holds a second nationality.
Does Dubai Require a Visa From Venezuelan Passport Holders?
Yes. The visa exemption table maintained by the UAE foreign ministry lists Venezuela among visa-required countries; no stamp is given on arrival and no residence-based exemption covers this passport. That surprises many travellers, because Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Chile and Ecuador are all visa-free.
Venezuelan Passport Validity and the Six-Month Rule for Dubai
Dubai immigration looks for six clear months between your arrival date and the passport's expiry. For Venezuelans this is the step most likely to cause trouble, because many passports in circulation have been kept valid with a prórroga rather than replaced.
- If the original expiry date is more than six months away, apply as normal.
- If validity depends on a prórroga, ask before paying, since acceptance of extended Venezuelan passports by UAE immigration and by airlines is not something to assume.
- If a renewal is already under way with SAIME or a consulate, wait for the new passport, because the visa is issued against a single passport number.
Our consultants can review your passport details before you apply.
Renewing a Venezuelan Passport Abroad Before Travelling to Dubai
Venezuelans living abroad renew through the consulate network, and waiting times vary widely. If a new passport arrives after the UAE visa was granted, the visa stays linked to the old number and is normally not transferable, so expect to apply again.
Second Passports Among Venezuelan Travellers to Dubai
Many Venezuelan families have Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or Colombian roots, and a large number hold a second citizenship through a parent or grandparent. Those passports are visa-exempt for the UAE. Colombian dual nationals, for example, can follow the UAE entry rules for Colombian passports, and European dual nationals need no visa either. Use one passport consistently from booking to arrival: the airline checks the passport you present against UAE rules, and the officer in Dubai stamps that same passport. Carry the Venezuelan passport as well if you will leave or re-enter Venezuela on it.
Flights From Caracas to Dubai: Istanbul, Madrid or Miami
No airline flies nonstop between Venezuela and the UAE; each itinerary needs a change of plane.
- Via Istanbul. Turkish Airlines flies nonstop from Caracas to Istanbul several times a week, with frequent onward flights to Dubai, so the whole trip can stay with one airline.
- Via Madrid. Iberia, Air Europa and Plus Ultra connect Caracas with Madrid, and Emirates flies on from Madrid to Dubai. Venezuelans can enter the Schengen area visa-free for short visits, which helps if the connection is long.
- Via Miami. American Airlines links Miami and Caracas, but changing planes in the US requires a valid US visa, which many Venezuelans do not hold.
Simón Bolívar International at Maiquetía has been running from temporary facilities after earthquake damage, and some services moved to Valencia for a time, so confirm the departure airport printed on the ticket and watch for schedule changes. Our note on booking flights for a UAE visa application explains what to buy first.
The Eight-Hour Gap Between Venezuela and Dubai
Venezuela keeps the same clock all year, four hours behind GMT, and Dubai is eight hours ahead. With a long connection in Istanbul or Madrid, arrival in Dubai often falls one or two calendar days after departure, so check the arrival date against your visa.
Choosing a Dubai Tourist Visa From Venezuela
Because the journey takes a full day or more, most Venezuelan visitors stay at least a week. Trips of up to four weeks, whether sightseeing or visiting family, fit the one-entry Dubai visa valid for 30 days. Relatives spending a longer season in Dubai can use the 60-day single-entry UAE visa instead of extending later. Paid employment is outside what any visit visa permits.
Applying for a UAE Visa From Venezuela, Spain or the United States
The form is the same wherever you live; only the declared residence changes.
Venezuelans Applying From Caracas or Elsewhere in Venezuela
Enter Venezuela as both nationality and residence. Upload scans made in good light, since a blurred data page is a frequent reason for a request to resubmit.
Venezuelans in Spain Applying for a Dubai Visa
Spain hosts one of Europe's biggest Venezuelan communities, and many have since become Spanish citizens through Canarian or Galician ancestry or years of residence. A Spanish residence card does not change how Dubai treats a Venezuelan passport, but a Spanish passport does; see our UAE visa-free rules for Spanish nationals. Emirates flies from Madrid and Barcelona to Dubai.
Venezuelans in the United States Applying for a UAE Visa
Venezuelans in South Florida, Houston, Orlando and other US cities apply as Venezuelan nationals with US residence, which brings no arrival option at Dubai. Anyone in the US on a temporary status rather than a green card should take advice before leaving the country, because returning is the harder part of the trip. Those who have naturalised can rely on the UAE visa-free entry for US passport holders instead.
Bolívar Cards and Dollar Payments for Venezuelan Applicants
Every visa card states a US-dollar fee, and the complete figure shows at checkout before you are charged. Bolívar debit cards issued in Venezuela are often not enabled for foreign online purchases, so many applicants pay with a dollar card held abroad or issued by an international bank. If a payment fails, message us rather than retrying several times.
Documents for a Venezuelan Dubai Visa Application
- A colour copy of the Venezuelan passport's data page.
- A recent photo on a white background that follows the UAE visa photo rules.
- A flight booking out of the UAE.
- Medical cover valid in the UAE; our guide to travel insurance for a UAE visit visa explains what counts.
The cédula is not needed for the application. Venezuelan passports often show two given names and two surnames; type every part in the order printed and use the same spelling on the airline booking.
Venezuelan Applications and Shifting Flight Schedules
Airline schedules out of Venezuela have changed often, so book flexible fares where you can and apply once dates are firm. An approved e-visa carries a last date for entry, explained in our guide to how long a UAE visa stays valid, so a delayed flight is normally fine as long as you land before that date. For short-notice travel, the express Dubai visa service speeds up our handling, and the emailed reference lets you follow progress through our online status checker for UAE visas. A consultant checks each document before submission.
Overstay Fines and Extensions for Venezuelan Visitors in Dubai
A Venezuelan visitor who stays past the permitted days owes AED 50 per additional day, starting immediately because no grace days remain, and settles the total at departure. Requests for more time have to be made before the current visa runs out; our step-by-step on online tourist visa extensions explains how.
Venezuelan Families Visiting Relatives in Dubai
Put the whole family on a single application before paying. Each child needs a Venezuelan passport of their own, and minors' passports expire sooner than adult ones, so check every expiry date against the six-month rule. If a child travels with only one parent, Venezuelan rules usually require written permission from the other, so arrange it before the trip. Relatives resident in Dubai cannot extend their status to guests, though their address and phone number are worth carrying.
Arriving in Dubai With a Venezuelan Passport
Turkish Airlines lands at Terminal 1 and Emirates at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport. At the counter, hand over the same passport you applied with, plus a copy of the approval, printed or digital. Have your accommodation details and onward ticket ready, as officers sometimes ask how long you plan to stay; the decision to admit rests with them.
Refused Venezuelan Applications and Refunds
Refusals usually follow a fixable problem: a data page that cannot be read, a passport too close to expiry, or names entered differently from the passport. Before reapplying, read why UAE visit visas are commonly refused. A refusal is not refunded under our refund policy. The Dubai Visitor Visa team answers WhatsApp at any hour and can check a file before you resubmit.
Venezuelan Holiday Seasons and the Weather in Dubai
The long school break in the middle of the year falls in Dubai's hottest weeks, when afternoons often pass 40°C. Christmas, Carnival and Semana Santa line up with Dubai's mild months, roughly November to early April, which suit sightseeing better. Book early for December and Carnival, when seats out of Caracas fill quickly.
