Do Chinese Citizens Need a Visa for Dubai?

For a short trip, a Mainland Chinese citizen with an standard PRC passport is now exempt from arranging a visa before arrival.

The UAE's latest visa-free table lists the People's Republic of China as visa-free. The UAE Consulate in Shanghai also states that Chinese nationals holding ordinary passports are exempt from a prior visa and can stay for 30 days free of charge.

This is the clearest current official position for ordinary PRC passports.

This is the most key correction on the page.

The older source claimed that China had moved from a 30-day UAE stay to 90 days within any 180-day period. I could not verify that change through latest UAE border or UAE diplomatic sources.

Instead, the latest UAE Consulate in Shanghai page says Chinese ordinary-passport holders are visa-exempt for 30 days and can extend for a similar period once after paying the relevant fees.

For 2026 planning, use 30 days as the initial stay. Do not plan a 60- or 90-day trip around an unsupported 90/180 claim.

Why Some Websites Still Say 90 Days

Several travel and visa pages now repeat a 90-days-in-180 rule for Chinese citizens. Some also say the rule changed in late 2024.

The problem is that a repeated statement is not the same as a latest UAE rule.

When official UAE sources and third-party articles disagree, use the UAE source.

This page therefore removes the 90-day statement instead of presenting it as confirmed fact.

What Does Visa-Free Entry Mean?

Visa-free entry means you do not need to submit a tourist-visa form before the short trip.

You still pass through UAE border on arrival. Entry remains subject to normal entry checks.

Visa-free does not mean unlimited stay. You must leave or use a legal extra stay or other visa route before the allowed stay ends.

That means an extra 30 days may be open under the latest UAE rules.

The extra stay is not the same as receiving 60 days automatically on arrival. Your first stay is 30 days. The extra period requires the legal extension process and current fee.

Check the extra stay before your initial stay expires. Do not assume the extra stay has been granted until the UAE system confirms it.

Chinese Citizens Dubai Visa for a Stay Longer Than 30 Days

If you already know that the trip will last more than 30 days, compare the legal options before travel.

One option is the extension route described above. Another is a pre-booked tourist visa when that route better matches the planned stay.

GDRFA now offers 30-day and 60-day tourist visas through approved tourism establishments.

A planned 50-day stay should not be built around hoping an extra stay works later. Compare the 60-day route before departure.

60-Day Pre-Arranged Tourist Visa

The 60-day tourist visa can be useful when the planned UAE stay is clearly longer than the free 30-day entry.

GDRFA now lists the UAE authority fee for a 60-day single-entry tourist visa at AED 352 + 5% VAT.

The current tourist-service rules include passport valid time of at least six months, an onward or exit ticket, and health insurance valid in the UAE.

A pre-arranged visa is still subject to UAE immigration approval. A private service cannot guarantee it.

The GDRFA UAE authority fee is AED 252 + 5% VAT.

For a standard Chinese ordinary-passport holder, this paid 30-day route is usually not the first option to compare because the visa-free entry already provides a 30-day short stay.

No.

Visa-free visitor status is for a visit. It does not give right to take paid employment in the UAE.

Travel insurance is still useful for medical costs, delay and baggage problems.
