Egyptian Passport to Dubai: Visa Routes, EGP Costs and Files

An Egyptian passport does not give visa-free or on-arrival entry to the UAE, so every Egyptian visitor needs a visa approved before boarding in Cairo or anywhere else. Holding a US, UK or Schengen visa does not change that. For a family visit or a holiday of up to a month, the usual choice is a single-entry Dubai visa for 30 days, and longer or multiple-entry options sit alongside it on the visa cards. The e-visa is valid for all seven emirates and arrives by email, so there is nothing to collect from an embassy.

Why a US, UK or Schengen Visa Doesn't Help Egyptians at UAE Arrival

This point is worth settling before anything else. The UAE does run a conditional visa-on-arrival scheme for people who hold American, British or European visas, but it is limited to specific nationalities, chiefly Indian passport holders. When the UAE added six more nationalities in June 2026, Egypt was not among them.

So an Egyptian engineer with a valid Schengen visa, or a student holding a UK residence permit, still needs a UAE visa arranged in advance. Airlines check this at the departure desk, and a traveller who turns up expecting a visa on landing can be refused boarding. Confirm your route before buying a non-refundable ticket.

Matching the Visa to an Egyptian Traveller's Plans

Anyone returning to the UAE again and again over the coming years could look at the five-year multiple-entry tourist visa, which carries its own financial conditions and permits stays of as long as 90 days each time.

Budgeting in Egyptian Pounds for a Dubai Visa

Dubai Visitor Visa lists each price in US dollars on its own card, and the amount shown at checkout is exactly what you pay. There is no fixed pound figure, because the Egyptian pound has moved sharply against the dollar in recent years and your bank sets the rate on the day of payment. A card issued in Egypt may also carry a foreign-transaction charge.

What Goes Into an Egyptian Tourist Visa File

A tourist visa file from Egypt is built on four items:

• The passport's data page in colour, from a passport with at least half a year of validity left on the day you enter the UAE.
• A new colour portrait with a plain white backdrop and the whole face showing.
• Your planned flights; an unpaid reservation is fine at this stage.
• An accommodation document, meaning a hotel confirmation or your UAE host's Emirates ID.

Type every name exactly as it appears in Latin letters on the passport, not as it is spelled on your national ID card or in Arabic. Police Clearance Rules for Egyptians Apply to Work Visas

From 16 June 2026, Egyptian nationals applying for UAE employment or investor visas must provide a police clearance certificate. It has to be attested in Egypt, then by the UAE Embassy in Cairo, and finally by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Visit and tourist visas are outside that rule, so a holiday application does not need one.

Iqama Holders: The Gulf-Resident Route for Egyptians in Saudi Arabia

Hundreds of thousands of Egyptians live and work in Saudi Arabia, and a valid iqama opens a route that residents of Egypt do not have: the UAE eVisa for GCC residents. It is issued before travel, never on arrival, and depends on three things:

• the iqama or other GCC residence permit still has twelve months or longer to run on your arrival date;
• the passport has six months or more left;
• the profession on the residence record falls within the list UAE immigration approves.

Once issued, it must be used within 30 days and gives a 30-day stay, extendable once. Those time limits come from the UAE government's published guidance for GCC residents. Iqama holders facing a renewal in the coming months, or with a job title that could fail the check, can simply apply for a tourist card, selecting Saudi Arabia as their country of residence. Egyptian Residents of the UK Applying for a Dubai Visa

Egyptians living in Britain follow the same rule as those at home: a UK residence permit gives no arrival visa to an Egyptian passport holder. In the form, choose Egypt as your nationality and the United Kingdom as your country of residence. London clocks run three hours behind the UAE during British Summer Time and four hours behind in winter; bear that in mind when comparing a landing time with the entry deadline on the visa.

Business Visits From Egypt: Meetings and Exhibitions

Egyptian professionals travelling for meetings, supplier visits or large trade events in Dubai should apply for the 14-day business visa, not a tourist card. It covers attending, negotiating and exhibiting, but not taking up paid work for a UAE company. If a trip is likely to run past two weeks, a 30-day tourist visa can be the more practical choice for a mix of meetings and personal time, provided no employment is involved.

From Egypt to Dubai: Flights, Time Difference and Entry Dates

EgyptAir and Emirates fly nonstop between Cairo International and Dubai, and the flight takes around three and a half hours. Egypt uses summer time from late April to late October, which puts Cairo one hour behind Dubai in the warm months and two hours behind from November to April. Departures run from just after midnight to late evening, and a late-night flight lands on the following calendar date in Dubai.

Whatever date you land, it has to come before the last-entry date shown on the approval. Landing in Dubai on an Egyptian Passport

At immigration you present the same passport the visa was issued for; the approval is linked to it electronically. Officers can ask where you are staying, how long you plan to remain and when you leave, so keep the hotel or host details and your return booking easy to reach on your phone. An issued visa allows you to travel, while the final entry decision is always made at the border. Answers that match the application you submitted keep that step short.

Egyptians Connecting Through Dubai to Another Country

Dubai is a common hub for Egyptians flying on to Asia, Australia or elsewhere in the Gulf. Passengers who stay airside between flights need no UAE visa at all. To leave the terminal during the connection, you need a transit visa issued in advance and a confirmed ticket onward to another country.

• The 48-hour transit visa suits a night's rest between flights or one full day exploring.
• The 96-hour transit visa leaves room for as many as four days ahead of the next leg.

Transit visas cannot be extended or converted, so pick a tourist card if the stopover might stretch into a proper holiday.

Egyptian Families Travelling on One Application

Many families travel together for Eid or the summer break, and the whole group can go through as one application. Enter every traveller before paying. A child on a parent's trip is still a separate applicant with a passport scan and portrait of their own. When relatives in the UAE host the family, one clear copy of the host's Emirates ID can cover the accommodation question for everyone staying with them. Before anything goes to immigration, a consultant reviews the documents, which is the moment a wrong digit in a passport number or a dark photo is spotted.

Previous UAE Residence, Refusals and Open Cases for Egyptians

Many Egyptian applicants have lived or worked in the UAE before. If that applies to you, make sure the old residence visa was properly cancelled when you left. An unpaid overstay fine, an absconding complaint lodged by a past employer, or a pending case can stop a new visit visa from being issued, and it is far easier to settle before applying than after a refusal.

A past refusal on its own does not bar a fresh application. The new file should correct whatever caused the first one to fail, whether that was a poor scan, a name typed differently from the passport or a visa type that did not match the stated trip. Staying Longer: Extensions and A2A Visa Changes for Egyptian Visitors

Egyptian visitors who want more time have two kinds of option. An inside-country extension keeps you in the UAE while it is processed: the 30-day stay extension inside the Emirates or the 60-day in-country extension for a longer stay. An airport-to-airport change works differently: you fly out, a new visa is issued, and you fly back in. The 30-day A2A visa change and the 60-day A2A option suit travellers comfortable with a short trip out.

Eligibility for either route turns on the visa you hold now, so raise it with the team well before your last permitted day. There is no longer any grace period: from 11 February 2026, each day beyond the permitted stay is fined AED 50, charged from day one of the overstay, and the full amount is settled at departure.
