Holders of a Jamaican passport cannot get a UAE visa at the airport, which means approval has to come through before the flight to Dubai. Jamaica is absent from both the 30-day and 90-day lists of nationalities granted UAE entry on arrival, and you should expect the airline to check for an approved visa before boarding. The good news is that everything happens online: there is no embassy appointment, and the approved e-visa arrives by email. Jamaica and the UAE Visa Waiver: Which Passports It Covers
Jamaica and the UAE announced a visa waiver agreement in September 2019, and it is often misread as visa-free travel for everyone. According to Jamaica's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, the waiver covers diplomatic and official passports, while ordinary Jamaican passport holders apply online for entry. If you travel on a standard passport, the waiver does not change anything for you.
A US visa, a green card or a UK residence permit does not open an arrival route either. The UAE grants that concession only to Indian nationals and a short list of Asian and African nationalities, and Jamaica is not among them.

Documents to Upload With a Jamaican Passport
- A sharp colour scan of the Jamaican passport's data page, with over six months remaining when you land in the UAE.
- A recent photo taken against a white, plain backdrop. Check the UAE visa photo specifications before taking it on your phone.
- A return or onward flight booking, which is a condition of the tourist visa.
Type your name exactly as it is printed in the passport, including any middle names, because a mismatch between the form and the passport is a common cause of delay. Before submission, a consultant looks over every file, so a blurred scan or an unsuitable photo can be replaced first.
If the passport is close to expiry, renew it with Jamaica's Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) before you apply. A visa is tied to one passport number, so applying on the old book and travelling on a new one creates problems at check-in.

Jamaican Passport Holders Based in Britain or the United States
A Jamaican citizen in London, Birmingham, New York or South Florida applies in exactly the same way as someone in Kingston, because UAE entry is decided by the passport. On the form, pick Jamaica for nationality and select Britain or the United States as your country of residence. Settled status, a work visa or a green card does not add an arrival visa to a Jamaican passport, so the application is still needed. Applicants abroad receive the e-visa by email just like applicants at home, meaning nobody has to post documents or visit a UAE embassy or consulate in person.
Jamaican Dual Citizens Holding a British or US Passport
Dual citizens have an easier option. British and US passports both earn a 90-day visit visa on landing, so a Jamaican-British or Jamaican-American traveller can fly on that passport instead and skip the application. Flying From Kingston or Montego Bay to Dubai
No airline flies nonstop between Jamaica and the UAE, so every trip involves at least one change. The quickest routings connect in Miami, where Emirates flies nonstop to Dubai, or in New York or London. Expect around 18 hours door to door at best, and often more than 20. Dubai is nine hours ahead of Jamaica all year, since Jamaica keeps the same clock through the summer.
US and UK Transit Rules on the Way From Jamaica
The connecting airport brings its own visa rules. A Jamaican passport holder changing planes in the United States needs a US transit visa or a valid US visitor visa, because every international passenger there passes through US immigration. A London connection should also be checked against current UK transit requirements before you pay for the ticket. A UAE visa does not replace either of these.
Stopping in Dubai on the Way Beyond Jamaica
Some Jamaicans route through Dubai when heading to Asia, Africa or other parts of the Gulf. Passengers who remain in the transit area between flights do not need a UAE visa. To leave the airport, a Jamaican passport holder needs a 48-hour UAE transit visa or the 96-hour version, together with a confirmed ticket to a third country. Business Trips and Job Offers for Jamaican Citizens
Jamaican companies attending trade shows, meeting suppliers or exploring tourism and logistics partnerships in Dubai are covered by the 14-day business visa. Take meeting invitations or event registration with you, as the immigration officer may ask about the purpose of the visit.

Filing Dubai Visas for a Jamaican Family or Group
A family, church group or group of friends can travel on one application. Add every traveller before you pay, each with a separate passport scan and photo; children need their own Jamaican passports. Payment is made once, and each traveller gets an individual visa, so check each name against its passport as soon as it arrives.
Landing in Dubai on a Jamaican Passport
At Dubai International, join the passport control queue with your printed or digital e-visa, your passport and your return booking. The officer matches the visa to your passport and admits you for the period the visa allows, which starts on your arrival date. Keep your hotel address or your host's details handy, since an officer can ask where you will stay. Entry remains at the officer's discretion.
Extending a Stay or Avoiding Overstay Fines as a Jamaican Visitor
If a family visit runs longer than planned, ask about more time well before your visa ends. If your visa type allows it, a 30-day in-country extension can add time without leaving the UAE.
