A trip from Saint Lucia to Dubai always involves a change of plane in London, North America or Toronto, and the airline will not board you on the Dubai leg unless a UAE visa has already been approved for your Saint Lucian passport. Routing a Saint Lucia to Dubai Trip Through London, the US or Toronto
Long-haul flights leave from Hewanorra International near Vieux Fort, not from George F. L. Charles in Castries. Each connection point asks something different of a Saint Lucian passport:

Emirates continues to Dubai from Gatwick, New York, Miami and Toronto. Since 5 March 2026 the UK has required Saint Lucians to hold a visa, airside transit included, so a London routing that worked last year may now need extra paperwork. Buying every leg on a single ticket keeps a missed connection in the airline's hands rather than yours.
Without a UK, US or Canadian visa, the realistic options narrow quickly. Apply for the connecting country's visa first, because its processing time is usually longer than the UAE's, and only then fix the Dubai dates.
Hurricane Season and Flights Out of Saint Lucia
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November, and storms can ground flights at Hewanorra for a day or more. If you travel in those months, leave slack between the first leg and the Emirates connection, and apply for a UAE visa whose validity comfortably covers a later arrival than planned.
The UAE Visa Rule for Saint Lucian Passport Holders
The UAE foreign ministry's nationality list for visa exemptions shows Saint Lucia as visa-required. There is no arrival visa for Saint Lucians, and a US green card or UK residence does not change that. The application is online, with no embassy visit.
This sometimes surprises mixed Caribbean groups. Barbadian and Vincentian passports are visa-free for the UAE, so friends from Bridgetown or Kingstown can land without arranging anything, while the Saint Lucians in the same party apply in advance. Matching the Visa to a Saint Lucian Itinerary
- Up to four weeks in the UAE with one arrival: one-month visa, single entry.
- Four weeks with a detour to a neighbouring Gulf state and back into the UAE: multiple-entry tourist visa for a month.
- Six or seven weeks with family or friends: one-arrival visa covering 60 days.
- Meetings, exhibitions or investor visits: a 14-day visa for business travel.
- Breaking a journey to Asia with a short Dubai stopover: 96-hour UAE stopover visa.
Given the long journey, many Saint Lucians choose at least ten days in the UAE, so a 30-day visa usually leaves room for flight changes.
When Saint Lucians Usually Plan a Dubai Holiday
Dubai is at its mildest between November and March, which overlaps with Saint Lucia's dry season and avoids the peak hurricane months. A July or August visit means daytime heat well above anything on the island, often beyond 40°C.
Paying in Eastern Caribbean Dollars for a UAE Visa
Visa prices sit on the cards in US dollars; the figure confirmed at checkout is final. The Eastern Caribbean dollar is pegged at EC$2.70 to US$1, so the cost in local money barely moves between quoting and paying, although your bank may still add a foreign-transaction fee. Check that your card is cleared for overseas online purchases first.
Documents and Passport Checks for Saint Lucians
- A colour image of the passport's biodata page; half a year or more must separate its expiry date from your arrival.
- A recent head-and-shoulders photo against white.
- Your booked departure from the UAE.
- Medical insurance recognised by the UAE; checkout states whether it is included.

Dual Nationals and Saint Lucian Citizens by Investment
Many people hold Saint Lucian citizenship alongside another nationality, whether by birth abroad or through the citizenship-by-investment programme. If your other passport is visa-free for the UAE, you may not need a visa at all, provided you book, check in and pass UAE immigration on that same passport. If you travel on the Saint Lucian passport, answer any question about other or previous nationalities fully and accurately; inconsistent answers are a common source of delays.
Investors who live in China, Nigeria or the Middle East and rarely visit Saint Lucia apply exactly as island residents do and list the country where they actually live.
Saint Lucians Living in the United States
New York and Florida have long-established Saint Lucian communities. Living there does not alter UAE entry for a Saint Lucian passport, so the e-visa still comes first, with Saint Lucia entered as citizenship and America as home. Saint Lucians Settled in the United Kingdom
The UK's own visa change does not affect Saint Lucians who already hold UK residence, and London remains their natural gateway, with Emirates flying from Gatwick and Heathrow. Residence there still gives no UAE arrival option, so the e-visa is needed first. Saint Lucian Cruise Crew and Job Seekers Bound for Dubai
Many Saint Lucians work at sea, and Dubai is a winter base for several cruise lines. Crew joining a ship there normally travel on arrangements made by the cruise line or its port agent, so confirm the paperwork with your employer rather than buying a tourist visa. Land-based jobs follow the same principle: tourist visas exclude paid work, and the UAE employer sponsors the work permit before you start.
Saint Lucia Time Versus Dubai Time
Dubai runs eight hours ahead of the island all year, as neither observes daylight saving. A flight leaving the Caribbean in the evening usually lands in Dubai late the following evening after the connection, so compare the Dubai arrival date printed on the ticket with the dates on your visa.
Arriving at DXB After the Long Haul From Saint Lucia
Emirates flights arrive at Terminal 3. At passport control, present the Saint Lucian passport together with the e-visa approval, either as a printout or on a phone screen, and keep hotel and return details ready. Short questions about your plans and length of stay are perfectly normal; admission is decided by the officer.
Extending or Overstaying as a Saint Lucian Visitor
If plans change, ask before the visa expires; an in-country UAE visa extension of 30 days can sometimes be added, subject to your entry visa. Each unauthorised day is charged AED 50 from day one; the grace period disappeared on 11 February 2026, so clear the whole balance before you fly.
