Senegal to Dubai: Visit Visa Guide for Senegalese Citizens
Senegalese travellers have one advantage most West Africans lack: Emirates flies from Dakar to Dubai without a stop. What they still need is a UAE visa granted ahead of check-in; you request it through a web application and receive the result by email. Most Senegalese travellers going for a holiday, shopping or family reasons use a one-entry UAE tourist e-visa lasting a month, and the yellow fever card should travel in your cabin bag next to the passport.
Is a Dubai Visa Compulsory for Senegalese Passports?
It is. Abu Dhabi's foreign ministry puts Senegal in its "visa required" column, as the official exemptions list by nationality shows, so ordinary Senegalese passports are not admitted on arrival. Staff at the Emirates counter in Blaise Diagne International Airport confirm the e-visa before printing boarding passes.
An Emirati embassy operates in Dakar, yet tourist visas are never stamped there; every visit visa for a Senegalese traveller is issued electronically. No interview or in-person appointment is part of the process.
A report a few years ago named Senegal among some twenty African nationalities facing a pause on UAE tourist visas, and that list still circulates. The UAE now publishes Senegal simply as visa-required with no suspension in force, but rules can change quickly, so ask us to confirm before paying for an Emirates ticket.
Visa Dubaï pour Sénégalais: The Terms You Will See
Many Senegalese search in French, and the application itself is in English. "Visa touristique de 30 jours" corresponds to the 30-day tourist visa, "entrée unique" to single entry and "entrées multiples" to multiple entry, "visa de transit" to a transit visa and "prolongation" to an extension. Write names as the passport's machine-readable zone prints them, without accents, so Ndèye becomes NDEYE on both the form and the air ticket.
Yellow Fever Card for Travellers Leaving Senegal
Senegal sits on the list of countries with yellow fever risk, and UAE health rules ask arrivals aged nine months or over from such countries to carry proof of vaccination. Anyone who has waited in transit for more than twelve hours at an airport in a risk country falls under the same rule.
Carry the original international vaccination certificate in your cabin bag. Infants under nine months are not checked, but every older child needs a card of their own. If yours is lost, the vaccination centre at the Institut Pasteur de Dakar is a well-known place to arrange a replacement before travel.
Senegal Dubai Visa Application: Files and Payment
After choosing a visa and selecting Senegal as nationality, attach:
- an uncropped scan of the passport's biodata page, from a passport whose expiry falls more than six months after landing;
- a recent portrait on white, following our UAE visa photo measurements;
- outbound and return flight details;
- proof of accommodation, meaning a hotel reservation or your hosts' home address;
- travel health insurance accepted by the UAE, as our page on visit visa insurance for the Emirates sets out.
Our visa cards quote dollar prices. Because Senegal's currency follows the euro, so the franc total your bank records can shift slightly between booking and payment; leave a small cushion on the card and make sure international online purchases are enabled. Once submitted, the file can be followed on our visa status checker.
Every member of a family, babies included, needs an individual application. A household travelling together should submit all files on the same day so approvals arrive close together. Approval is linked to one specific passport number, so renew an expiring document before applying; switching to a new passport afterwards means starting over.
Picking a UAE Visa for a Senegalese Trip
| Plan from Senegal | Matching visa |
|---|---|
| Two or three weeks of sightseeing or family time | 30-day single entry |
| Thirty days broken by an excursion to Doha or Riyadh | 30-day UAE visa permitting several entries |
| A mother or father spending weeks with an adult child employed in Dubai | two-month visit visa with one entry |
| Around eight weeks including travel abroad | 60-day multiple-entry tourist visa |
| Sourcing goods or attending a trade show | 14-day visa for business visits |
| A brief stop in Dubai while flying further east | transit permit for 48 hours, or the four-day transit visa for a longer pause |
Emirates Nonstop From Dakar and Other Routes
Blaise Diagne International Airport lies about 43 kilometres east of central Dakar. Emirates' published timetable shows an early-evening departure from there landing in Dubai the following morning after roughly ten hours, several days a week; the return sector takes longer. Alternatives with one change include Royal Air Maroc through Casablanca, Turkish Airlines through Istanbul, and the Ethiopian and Kenya Airways hubs at Addis Ababa and Nairobi. Emirates flights land at Terminal 3 in Dubai, where you should have the e-visa, return booking and yellow card ready together at passport control.
Travellers from Touba or Saint-Louis should build the road journey into their plans, and those in Ziguinchor or Cap Skirring can use Air Sénégal's domestic flights, as missing the evening departure can mean a wait of a day or more for the next nonstop. If you connect through another hub, keep all flights on one ticket.
Senegal and Dubai Time Difference
Senegal stays on Greenwich Mean Time in every season, putting Dakar four hours behind the Emirates. A flight leaving Dakar in the evening therefore reaches Dubai early the next day, and that arrival date must fit inside the permitted entry window of your e-visa.
Senegalese in France, Italy or the US Still Apply in Advance
The UAE has introduced an airport visa for six nationalities who reside in Western countries, and Senegal was not included. A titre de séjour in Paris, a permesso di soggiorno in Milan or a green card in New York does nothing to change what the Senegalese passport requires, and the online application remains compulsory. Many in the French diaspora fly Emirates from Paris or Nice, which changes the route but not the rule. Senegalese who have become French citizens can travel on that passport under our guidance for French nationals, naturalised Americans under the rules for US citizens, and those holding Italian nationality under our page for Italian passport holders.
Relatives from neighbouring countries apply on their own passports: see our pages for Gambian travellers and Malian nationals. Senegalese employed in Saudi Arabia or Kuwait may be eligible for the e-visa open to GCC residents.
Senegalese Traders Buying Stock in Dubai
Dubai's wholesale districts are a familiar source for Senegalese merchants buying electronics, fabrics, cosmetics and spare parts. A short purchasing trip or an exhibition at the Dubai World Trade Centre suits the two-week business visa; longer sourcing stays work on a tourist visa. Many West African buyers base themselves in Deira, close to the older wholesale markets. Carrying over AED 60,000 in cash obliges you to file a declaration with UAE customs, and goods shipped home pass through the Port of Dakar, so hold on to every invoice. Medicines and samples deserve a look at our overview of items Dubai customs restricts before you pack. Be cautious with agents promising special approval routes for traders; every application goes through the same UAE system.
A visit visa never permits a salaried job. Legal employment requires a UAE employer to apply for a work permit and residence on your behalf, a process our article on UAE work permits describes.
Senegalese Residents of the UAE and Family Visits
Senegal's embassy is located on Murour Road in Abu Dhabi and handles passport and civil matters for citizens living in the Emirates. A visitor who loses a passport should report it to the police first, then contact the embassy in Abu Dhabi about an emergency travel document straight away. When parents or siblings come to visit, each needs a personal application, and the resident's Emirates ID and lease contract can replace a hotel booking. Spouses and children settling permanently need the resident's sponsorship, explained in our page on dependant visas sponsored by UAE residents. Students accepted by a UAE university need a different permit again, set out in our UAE student visa overview.
More Time, Overstays and Refusals for Senegalese Visitors
Ask about extending well before your final permitted day; some visas allow a 30-day in-country UAE extension. Every day past the limit brings a fine of AED 50, starting immediately, and airport immigration collects the total at departure, as the overstay fine rules for the Emirates explain. Refused files usually trace back to a poor scan, an unsuitable photo or mismatched names; check the usual reasons for UAE visa refusals and our refund conditions before reapplying.
