Which Dubai Visa Route Suits Your Indian Passport?
Start with the foreign visas or permits your passport holds, then the reason for travelling. Without any of them, a Dubai visit visa from India can only be the e-visa.

Arrival Visa for Indians With US, UK, EU or Canadian Documents
Ordinary Indian passport holders qualify, with relatives on the same trip, when they carry a current US, British or EU-member visa or residence card, a Green Card, or residency in one of the six countries in the table. The passport needs six months left and the foreign document must be unexpired on arrival. A 14-day grant renews once for another fortnight; a 60-day grant allows one entry and no renewal.
For many NRIs this is the easiest Dubai visa for Indian passport holders, issued in person at the immigration counter. E-Visa for Indian Passport Holders Without a Qualifying Visa
The UAE foreign ministry's exemption table lists India as visa-required, so other Indian travellers apply online for an India to Dubai visit visa and fly once approved. For holidays, the usual Dubai tourist visa from India is the single-entry e-visa lasting one month; longer family stays suit the 60-day e-visa with one arrival, and an itinerary that crosses to Doha or Bahrain and back needs a repeat-entry visa covering a month. The Dubai visa requirements for Indians come down to five uploads:
- Colour scans of the passport's first and last pages; the last one shows your father's name and address.
- A fresh portrait on plain white, sized to our photo rules for Emirates e-visas.
- Flights home or onward, as booked.
- A hotel voucher, or your host family's address.

Single-Name Indian Passports
Some Indian passports leave the surname box empty. Such travellers are admitted when the visa lists more than one name and the father's or family name appears on the passport's last page; otherwise an airline may refuse boarding. Mention a single-name passport before applying, or have a surname added first.
Renewing an Indian Passport Before a Dubai Trip
Allow at least six months between landing and expiry. In India, renewals go through Passport Seva, with Tatkaal for urgent cases; Indians living in the UAE use the consular centres Alhind now operates. Renew before applying, as an approval stays tied to the old passport number.

Handling times differ by visa but none exceed four working days, and Saturdays and Sundays, the UAE weekend, are left out of the count. Apply ten days to a fortnight early so a blurred scan can be replaced. Flights From Indian Cities to Dubai
Emirates, flydubai, Air India, Air India Express and IndiGo connect Dubai with Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Kerala's main airports, mostly in three to four hours. Sharjah and Abu Dhabi arrivals are fine too, since a tourist visa for Dubai from India works at every airport in the Emirates.

Indian Standard Time runs at UTC+5:30 and the Emirates stay on UTC+4 year-round, so 10am in Delhi is 8:30am in Dubai. A Mumbai departure close to midnight can touch down on the next calendar day, and that date must fall within the entry window shown on your approval for a Dubai travel visa from India.

UPI works at many UAE shops through QR codes, and At the Top, Burj Khalifa accepts UPI for online tickets; cards and ATMs at the airport handle everything else.
Customs Rules for Indian Travellers Arriving in the UAE
Poppy seeds, the khus khus of many Indian kitchens, are banned in the UAE, as are betel leaves, and travellers have been detained over both. Medicines with controlled ingredients, including certain painkillers, codeine cough syrups and sleeping tablets, need approval from UAE health authorities before travel. Indian Passport Holders Living in the US, UK and Canada
NRIs working or studying in America or Britain, and Indians with Canadian permanent residence, usually meet the arrival visa rule through those documents. Indian-origin travellers holding American, British or Canadian citizenship should fly on that passport, as none of the three needs a visa before landing; our notes for American citizens, UK passport holders and Canadians explain. Work, ECR Passports and Job Offers for Indians
A visit visa never covers salaried work. Lawful employment starts with a permit requested by the UAE company (see our work permit steps for the UAE), and ECR passport holders also need emigration clearance through India's eMigrate portal before leaving for the job. Indian Families in the UAE Hosting Relatives From India
Indians living in the Emirates regularly host parents, in-laws or siblings for a few weeks. Each guest needs their own visitor visa for Dubai from India, and the host's Emirates ID and tenancy contract usually replace a hotel booking. Ask about a Dubai visa extension for Indians before the final permitted day. E-visa holders can choose a one-month extension applied for in the UAE or a 60-day extension that avoids an exit flight; the 14-day arrival visa renews once and the 60-day one never. India's Consulate General is in the diplomatic enclave at Umm Hurair, Dubai, and the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi's diplomatic area.
